I've been wondering, and trying to pull this bass off for ever and for always since i heard it.

it literally cuts through everything, it has a nice and nasty nigh-end to it and even has that amazing feel to it that only i like.

Mix wise the kick is pretty subby and long
Most sounds in the mix are very hipassed to probbaly make the bass punch through,

But there absolutely has to be some sort of saturator or bass splitting into the picture to make it sound like that. Anyone been close to this sound before?            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

Maybe I am wrong but sounds like bass is little delayed to me...I mean a whole bass track a couple ms out of the grid. If you use for example 5ms or even more you will move bass attack away from other sounds so it will has more presence.

You can use delay both ways +/- and try to find sweet spot. Maybe its way off but I like this technique           https://soundcloud.com/nebulosity

I am definitely gonna test that out! I'm not the person to use a lot of delay as an ""effect/tool"" like that, i usually just use it for what the generic dumbass would do, which is wideness.

Here's a question though, won't the low-end off the bass create a really high "volume boost" with this method? Maybe i should split the bass in 2 channels and hipass/lowpass them?

I probably explained myself wrong. I prefer to use track delay in DAW instead of a plugin. If you are using Cubase or Ableton you can set track delay on every track you have. I think that this feature is today implemented in most DAW.

Check this:
http://www.pendlebury.biz/using-negative-track-delay-to-pull-your-track-into-time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-gnfXd6PJM

But if you want to use plugin you have to set feedback to 0.0, mix to full wet and also you cannot use negative delay values.

Good plugin for this:
http://www.voxengo.com/product/sounddelay/

If you have your bass consolidated in audio you can create delay by hand putting it slightly out of the grid.           https://soundcloud.com/nebulosity

hey oni Katsu. what about our collab track we wanted to start years back?

im looking for that bass too. think we can do it!

and yeah there is track delay for logic. the plugin is called SAMPLE DELAY its logic native AU. with that you can delay the whole track or make a haas FX in case you just delay one side.

it's on the inspector window (press "i" on the keyboard), just choose a positive or negative value where it says "delay".

WELL it definitely did something!!
What do you think? Am i getting close?

I think i have some really odd EQ on the lead sounds mayhaps.. that cloud up the mix.. but i think the bass is about right

EDIT: Also putting on a mild overdrive distorter did wonders to the high-end.

I don't think the bass is so special. It is more likely the choice and processing of the other sounds that make the bass cut through all the time. High pass and dip the other sound enough and you ll hear the bass.           soundcloud.com/supergroover
