Hi!!! I was wondering If I could use your ears, I been working in a track, but I really would like to hear some opinions, regarding mix, and composition, I have been struggling with bass lines since I started in this, I added a limiter to the track, Its starts psychedelic, but at the middle I kind of went on cheesy mode, sorry for that, Im working on getting all the cheesiness out of my body and soul, So maybe one day, I could make some good psychedelic music! anyways!! thanks! in advance!! I hope you have a nice week! peace!!!
hi man kik bass sounds clean on my pc speakers here.. some cool ideas the 2.50 part is cool.. i dont understand what ur prob wid cheese is.. u dont like it? thn try to dig out more weird sounds like suomisaundi or something.. psychedelic for most part is bringing new tricks and sound design man.. no definition for it.. try to listen all kinds of music.. and when working, try to let it flow and let ur ears be the judge.. i dont know dude.. i think u can take cheese and make it psychedelic if you really want to.. just dont take others definition for how it should sound... dont give a shit about anything and dive into the track..
about this track.. imo u shouldnt break it at 3.32 .. you can build the same sounds a bit more.. those same melodic leads you got,, try to work on the production and make it more interesting.. and keep a check on breaks.. cool ambient melody tht one... just have fun dude.. dont worry about sounding psychedelic or nothing..
re-arrange what you thought was real
Thanks man!! I was really wondering about the bass!! but thanks for listening, I guess you are right I have to stop worrying about cataloging my music, I have to just have fun making it!! hehe thanks!! have a great day!!
I loved it, especially the melodical part at 5:00, the bass might be a little bit stronger, but only a little bit, on the other hand, great job, man! You can get a label
Hmm cheese.. I like cheese! Parmigiano, Grana Padano, Gorgonzola... guess now i gotta make me some Italian food
This track sounds great man Please forget about catalogs and categories, just make music.
In my book there's only 1 evaluation criteria: do you like it? id doesn't matter if it's good or not, or even if it sounds good, all that matters is your opinion.
My opinion, for whatever that's worth, I like it. But, as always, everything can be improved
- I think the end buildup and chorus should have a massive guitar line.
- Some of the "bell-like" leads have a little too much low end, for example at 1:27, 2:15, 2:52
- The final part of the build up at 4:19 is very predictable: you mangle up the main tempo, glitching up the master, but then you just divide by 2, and divide by 2 again and again.. there's so much you can do to make it just to over the top, and a little more There's the change to improve and innovate
- The bassline sounds a bit thin, I don't know if it's the amp release (or note tail) that's just a bit low, if it's the filter cutoff decay, eq, or simply my system / ears / current mood. For sure the beat will work, but it could be improved just a bit.
- Does the track have a snare? I cant's seem to find it Plus the percs are completely repetitive, try using different samples in other parts of the tune, or changing up the rhythm in other ones - or just imagine how the drummer would feel if he would have to play the open hat in the exact same way over the entire tune.. what would that drummer (or you ) want to do?
- at 5:34, the main lead would definitely benefit for having a little more gain, being put more in the front - you raised the tension with the break, it always sounds good to release it, and with the leads being that much in the back, it's like the listeners expectations haven't been achieved nor surpassed
Else wise, the mix is pretty good indeed, the sound design could have a little more play into it but it's OK, the composition is there and has some-what of complexity and coherence, the song structure is solid, been though out and defines a nice story, the concept is nice, it has a good density, there performance is solid, and the melody is great - not so good with the harmony, but's that the style you're after here.
But, of course if you show this to a real dark lover he'll say it's cheesy. If you show this to a metal-head, he'll say its repetitive. If you show it to a disco lover, he'll say it's too darn fast, or to a classical music lover, and it'll be too simple. But, show it to me on a dance floor, and I'll dance by butt off
Again, it's all about your opinion
Btw, if you wanna hear some cheese check out my stuff I've hear it being called a lot of things, but I'm happy because I like it.

just my two cents.. I dont mind the cheese either.. bass sounds fine on my headphones, which is not saying much..something that comes to mind though..you are layering different stuff on top of each other, and have all different parts drop in at the same instant on several occasions; its just a question of taste in the end, but I would consider doing slower build- ups
