Well, I was wondering what's the difference between use an effect as an insert or just use the 'audio'-'plug-ins' menu on Cubase?
I know that if you apply a plug-in using the audio menu you will save cpu power cus the effect will change the 'wave' and won't be running on you system, right? And I also know that the audio menu works as an insert effect not as a send effect, right? So if I'm going to apply a plug-in (that I would apply as an insert effect, like an eq or compressor) that won't have any parameters automated should I ALWAYS use the audio menu?
Thanks a lot.

well , what i do is , apply my Eq , compressor and other effects on the Vsti itself and then bounce the whole thing , switch off the plugins and vsti and thus save a lot of cpu ...
but u can experiment and see , what suits best for you .. |

You right in most of your "rhetorical" questions.
Offline process will save FX state but FX itself will be closed. (Like quick preset save).
You can use it for:
a.fx which require large amounts of cpu
b.fx that you won't change in future
Compressor in my opinion isn't one of these so i will use it as insert to modify when it's needed, moreover i hardly use compressor on single channel but when groups (sidechain) so it's imposible to offline process.
EQ, i use Cubase EQ for first edit (basic shape). I apply EQ with more than 4 bands only for multichannel harmonics removal so again I don't use EQ as offline FX.
Best advice is to understand what each FX does and know wha wil be the result of any of effect appying methods.
