hi amigos:
i want send this question, in the trance scene a big part of dj´s try to play the more fresh tracks allways, and forget very fast the last productions, this for music sales and promotion is a big problem, i see other styles and the people enjoy more time the hits.
this is right or this is wrong???           Life, but how to live it!!!

this unreleased mania is stupid, just look at the top 10 section and all the "unreleaaseeed killlerrrrzzzzz".
i think its cause this scene is so download happy that everyone always has a million new tunes everyday and doesnt take the time to listen to something for real.

if you buy a cd you listen to it carefully, cause you just spent 20$ on it. if you have dsl and download 1 gb perday you can only listen to music without care, the music loses substance and becomes a collectors item, like collecting stamps. its not about the music, its about what you have, how new it is.

anyway, thats my opinion.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

Very interesting thread Droid,my friend.
I hardly could be more agree with Mr. Aje.
Besides we have this problem.
You MUST sound like.....X.I don`t know,If not you are not gonna sale shit.
We are killing the creativity with all this following patterns thing.
In the origins this was music to express something that you have inside, something to develope your inner self, you get my point???
Now the artists don`t want to express more than how killa they are, quite sad but basically what we have around this scene this days.
What to do????
I don`t know.           My fake plants died, because I did not pretend to water them.

Man what are you guys going on about? we still listen to the old stuff (at least I do) I still enjoy the 'hits' that droid is talking about, I bet almost everyone in this forum has at least a hallucinogen, astral projection, juno reactor, eat static, infected mushroom album... and they still listen to it at least once or twice a year.

Artists who do live acts sometimes play their 'classics' mixed with their new stuff, its not all artists that play their new album.

Now djs thats a different story, they depend on the unrealsed stuff, that is what keeps them getting booked and being the 'cool' one between themselves. If they keep playing the classics, hits or whatever would you really enjoy that over and over again? you probably end up getting bored quickly. Also I've seen people mixing much better and some djs out their but why arent they big? because they dont have the contacts to get the unrealesed stuff, its just like the mp3 mafia.

In this scene and in most eletronic scenes the djs have to have the most unreleased stuff before anyone in the crowd has it. the classics? well we still buy them (at least I do) and I still listen to them at home.

Trance is always evolving
what was fabulous a year ago
will not be as good now since production levels are always improving..

I agree that to keep people happy on the floor a dj must also play track s that the people also know, unfortunately too many old tracks makes for a stale journey.

Most of the time people on the floor are on substanses that craves for a trip. therefore a mind on lsd likes to experience new vibes new sounds. Since we are all here to looose ourselves to the music. And Dance.

The message here is not to download and look for the unreleased since you really dont have to there are so many releases coming out
just visit a psyshop in your area get the latest releases. And stay on top of things.

It`s sad but I think that is basically the pure truth.
Even if some dj still plays the classics.
Who???

Bad Publicity is the best way to promote
a publicity that makes people dis & cuss- the track eventually helps it succeed.....because everyone wants to dis and cuss the track... all this diss-cussion should be looked as positive response for an artist....why because people are talking about the track (or album)...as long as the music is getting airplay and is in demand....ARTIST BE HAPPY!

i think bad publicity would lead to more downloáds, and not more sales. i wouldnt pay money for something that everyone says it sucks. id maybe d/l it to see what everyones talking about, but then id quickly throw it into the trash can.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

With all the releases coming out since 2003 it is very hard to promote a track because it becomes st. like contemparary art, after 6 weeks you hang another painting on your wall because the new 1 has different colours. Imo some labels/artists overflood the market with their releases so how can you promote a track when there are allready 10 new tracks waiting to be released? And Aje got the bulls eye, what is that unreleased top 10 shit all about? Should we think when some dj posts his 'unreleased top 10' (which is a egotrip anyway) that he is soooo good?
