I'm just really interested because while i have a bit (lots was stolen from my car last year during moving)... I find that other than Astral Projection's "Another World" & Tantrance Vol. 6 + some single tracks that I like I rarely listen to it any more, I find I listen to my old Goa'ish ambient/chillout projects from back then.

I can;t handle any of the neo goa either, I respect what these musicians and artists are doing, and I think at a party it would be different... but having purchased many cd's over time of neo goa they never get spun.

I actually am finding I listen more & more to chill out & ambient now, progressive gets a big play (esp. Tribal Vision, Blue Tunes & Echoes), and from the "dark" side mostly Furious, Cosmo, Enichkin, Mighty Quinn, Quantum Frog & Tantrumm releases...

I find it curious * a bit sad that the sound I used to love as teenager-early adult in Goa trance now sounds a bit well boring and except for the memories i rarely listen to it

I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

i`ve listened and began with goa with some early things as well..spirit zone 1 and further..got all tantrance stuff and quite some others..generally the music had a deeper fx to me back then..its part of life i think..

i still love the ambient parts of spirit zone albums.. cd2

but i even enjoy the newer music..cannot say..depends on the mood and situation i guess..

i like the so called "new" school goa..with influence of oldschool but with better production..

cheers           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

I've heard only two old-school Goa albums ("Cosmology" and "Synergy" by Cosmosis) and play them very rarely. Not that I don’t like Goa – just haven’t discovered more yet (because I am exploring psy trance backwards in time). I play the "Pagan Goa" compilation once a week but not for any "psychedelic" reason – it just does the best job at distracting me from people’s conversations in the grocery store. That and I actually like it (except for a screaming girl on the second track). And I listen to the “Nitzh-O-Goa” compilation if I start getting drowsy behind the wheel – it never fails to energize me.

I’ve heard some random Goa tracks people posted here, but don’t remember what they were. I like that many of them have more “organic” character than you hear in other sub-genres (with the exception of Suomi, imho). Certainly will explore this sub-genre more soon.

From neo-Goa, I know only “Daze of Our Lives” by Filteria. And if I had to pick only one psy album to keep – this would be it. I listen to it 1-2 times a week and never get tired of it. Not more often than that just because I want it to remain a treat – otherwise, it would be like eating ice-cream with every meal. This music and I have a special bond – it’s my “magnetic album”

This is exactly the reason I can not quite get into progressive. Every time I listen to it, it reminds me German disco of the ‘80s (funny that somebody here made a Neelix – Modern Talking connection ). Except, unlike German disco, it does not bring any memories.

...Ah, enjoying Terrafractyl’s free EP as we speak...

maine coon for newer stuff I highly, highly recommend an album for you called Chrysalis by Terrafractyl - psy with classical influences - can't say enough good things about the album.

that's really weird. I didn't even see your bit about terrafractyl at the bottom of your post before I recommended it lol...            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

this times I'm completely away from psytrance etc..am producing too much different stuff and influences are quite dark ,but since a big part of my soul belongs to good acid goa styles I know I come regularely back on this trip it's only a matter of time.
I also like lots of dark ,a few progs with dark contents and this direction,it has to be psychedelic not annoying or gettin on nerves, some of you cannot hear it the whole time..atleast I not.
At some point you realize this music lacks still a lot of sth special before I would regard it as timeless or really extraordinary music that lasts more than a season.
But its nice to travel trhough memories.
I often come back to some really old goa, with lots of 303s and acid styles.
A lot of pieces are like timeless for me.Some of Cosmosis, some X-dream or delta shredder styles.. a lot of great old stuff.
Mostly thats tracks that I connect something with it.Like a special moment of an unforgetable expirience.
The old etnica and Transwave are also good tales.

I also started listening to Goa back in the day, nowadays Goa cds get a play now and then. Tantrance series, Spirit Zone comps, A Taste of Dragonfly - All still sitting in my cd rack amongst many others
Listen to this to bring back some memories!

I have neglected Neo Goa sounds a little, some of it gets a bit nerve wrecking for my taste. Still lots of great artists - most of the Suntrip releases are quite nice.
Also my copy of Artha-Influencing Dreams should arrive today, so I will be listening to alot of Goa in the next days.

I love to make time travels listening to old albums, I always learn two or more things while at it.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."
