listening it on BMA-5 it sounds ok. nothing bad to mention. you could aim to smelt kick and bass more together because they sound a bit like parallely characters. but hey, they sound ok anyway. |

Hi again
I listened to it on different speakers.
I think on that level it's a matter of taste, but I would like the bassline to be a little more defined, so that the single notes are more distinguishable from each other and the bass sounds more like "tatata" than "dadada". Especially on the low end as far as possible.
Overall I think it could be more higend, and more distinguishable LowEnd to make the bassline more crisp... but thats just my taste.
Listen to this one for a opposite example:
www.cosmoon.net/KnackBassline.mp3
It's not very fat, but crisp. The kick isn't very good, and there is not enough Low End, but the overall sound is nice crisp.
I did this once because somebody asked how to make a "crisp" bassline.
I usually get that to happen by adjusting the attack and release times of the compressor so that the first 10-30ms of the bass, speaking the "attack" of the bass come through without compression.
I guess you certainly did this already, and it's really just a matter of taste.
But not only that but also a good trick to do this is to use a transient designer. This tool gives you control over the attackphase of a sound and helps to make for example make a very "slappy" bass. waves trans-x or bigfish dominion for example. It's worth to try such tools for bass. (and everything actually)
I know what phase is, but don't know that plugin, and never heard of adjusting the phase for the bass. I mean, as far as I understand it, this only makes sense, when you have bass and kick at the same time, doesn't it? I mean where the bass is alone, there is no point to bring it in phase with something else... or ist this about the starting point of the wave? No, I guess not, this would be thing of trilogy I guess. Or what?
Which multiband comp and distorsion plugins did you use?
