was up dudes n dudets?

i have the audiofile from m audio.
my qustion is if i will replace it to a much better like pulsar or an rme will it change my sound or it wont change much.
the reason i ask this cause i went to a friend the otherday and he has the same pair of monitores but a pulsar insted of the audiophile n in his place evrything sounds crysale clear even without eq n plugins.
so i want to know if this sound card will change my sound that much cause i cant seem to get enough from the audiophile.
hope i was clear enough thanks

sound will not change much or maybe at all.
I´m not sure the DA of the pulsar is much better than the audiophile.

yes recording with a good AD will get you a better results in processing recorded audio material. Audiophile has a decent AD - not like the delta series though.

And yes soundcards today provide low latency at minimum cpu usage - which you audiophile allready has.

Pulsar is there for the DSP features.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Depends.
If you're using only VST's, there won't be any change at all. All programs use internal algorithms which has basically nothing to do with the sound card.
If you're recording audio from hardware, then there's a difference.
Try to check the acoustics in your room, maybe that's the reason.

so what u are saying is that if i dont want to record any hardware to my treks there isnt any reason for me to buy a soundcard? (i have some kind of audigy soundcard, dont even know which one...)           "just when i was about to go out, they pulled me back in..."

well, you need something a little better than a soundblaster.,
soundblasters have one big problem.,..
they convert everything to 48000Hz if you work in 44100.,

the result is that the high frequencies are not stable.,
this can influence your mixing.,

but then again, if you dont have monitors than i would spend money on that before thinking about a new soundcard.,

grts.,

Acidkof, I'm sure the problem is in the room. The Audiophile is a good card.

I bet you have bare walls in your studio room, or maybe just some thin wall-hangings.

Try this: get a mirror and a friend. Sit in your normal mixing position, and get your friend to move the mirror round the walls of your studio. Wherever you see the speakers in the mirror, you should fix some acoustic foam to the walls; if you can, also put some on the ceiling half-way between the speakers and your chair, a big piece on the wall behind you and a piece about 1m square at eye-level on the wall between the speakers. This should cut down the reflections.

Put your speakers on a stack of new bricks or concrete slabs so that the tweeters are at ear-level. This will tighten up the bass and make your stereo image sharper. Try and make sure your speakers are arranged symmetrically in the room.

Hope this helps...

just my experiences...

i have the audiophile too, and its a good, though semi-professional card. i also make music on a hammerfall, admitted as professional audio interface. the da's of the hammerfall is better than the audiophile ones (cant proove that, thats just what my ears are telling me). its fatter, more powerfull...

as long as u just bounce u will notice no change in the end product (cauz internal computation of the signal). if u record via a mixer the advantage of the da's is audible for sure.

but, the better the soundcard is (and the better monitors u have) the better u can actually hear what ur doin. the hammerfall for sure shows u your sound nearer to the reality than the audiophile does.

so, i have to answer ur question with a clear yes...

peace           just gimme more of the same. its just a test!

The Pulsar may be better than the Audiophile, but no way is it that much better.

I think that improving your listening space will make more difference to the sound that just swapping one pair of D/A coverters for another.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
