HAVING NO IDEA WHATSOEVER as for what kind of equipment one needs to produce trance music, and how much it costs (computer + software + keyboard + whatever…).
– Can people please give me a rough estimate? I don’t necessarily mean top of the line equipment – but I wonder how much good equipment costs.

a good computer alone can get to 5000nis
software like cubase cost about 1500nis(correct me if im wrong)
keybord 1000-3000nis
monitors 3000 and more!!!
good soundcard 3000 and more!!!
---FU%^#@ LOTS OF MONEY---
not even mentioned vsti(if u buy them) or real synths like access-virus (new indigo costs 8500nis!)

I first suggest try an old computer with Cubase or Logic. PC and Mac
see what your compfortable with.
Then choose what u want.
Buy a top of the line computer and sequencer you are most comfortable with.
Get a Good Soundcard with midi interface.
A Midi controller.
Test some monitors see which you like.
and your set from there...
You can buy keyboard later also |

mac G5 is very powerfull computer with at least 2gb ram u can do with it anything u like!!!

Computer + S.card = 8,000 nis
Monitors = 6,000 nis
Simple MIDI keyboard = 1,000 nis
15,000 nis is just the start!

...from what I read here, I see that 20000 NIS ($4500) should do it... well, its a lot, but not impossible...

You can start with PC+"cheap but enough" sound card like M-audio audiophile for example for about 1500$
400$ for some speakers like alesis mk2 or berhinger truth
get some "demo" software and you should be able to do pretty much with this already
I wish I had started with such a system and for about only 1900$ (even less, considering desktop prices at this stage) |

to real prodcution to start with major quality .. but u need some experience on the field to spent money ...
so i would say .. macintosh system G4 or recent G5 ..
last OS from mac
sound monitors samson or beringher or mackie
software - logic platinum or gold 6 , or cubase sx 2.0, ableton live4.0.1
sound card - motu828 , pulsar ,or 01x yamaha.
sintetizers - nord lead 2 or 3 , or virux c , or supernova 2 keyb ...
will then outher stuff u could bought .. like finalizers etc ... but what i specified above ... its spensive eheh but for sure if u have allready xperience in this field would be the good gear for u make good work with plenty of good kuality with good gear
this is about 8000 euros depending on the macintosh u would buy ..

pc P4 3.0ghz
ram 1ghz
HDD 200 gigs
software cubase sx 20 .. logic 5.5 , or ableton live 4.0.1
soud card .. emu ...Maudio firewire 410 ..or TCpowercore
sinth keybo ... nord lead 2 .. virux c , and keyboard midi
more cheaper and good enough to ehehh

if we are on the subject,
aside from cpu and memory and sound card are their other major factos to consider when paying a new computer for music purposes?
