Started out learning rhythm guitar then joined a Death Metal band playing bass guitar. Major influences was Slayer, Jethro Tull and the like (some classics,, always had a soft spot for old Ludwig Van & Bach) -wide variety.
In between days I started walking down the digital path with a 4 channel ModMaker (Do any of you know this?). Then came Fast Tracker and FT2,, now 8 (or 16, depending on if my 386 could handle it) channels to play around with.. After that came the CakeWalk series and I was in heaven with 32 channels and the ‘staff mode window’ I miss so dearly in today’s software. With Cakewalk my stuff was much more musical.
Finally Fruity Loops & Cubase. I went for FL because I liked the layout. Played a bit with CuBase but didn’t really feel for it. It is debatable which is more powerful between the 2.
FL studio opened whole new dimensions for me.
Since then my music ability is taking a back seat to technical aspects of sound engineering. Find myself composing a small piece then hours of knob tweaking.. By the way, I think psytrance is the pinnacle of what technology can do for music.

Now I'm sharpening up my mastering skills. These forums help a lot. There is genius among us here.

I just do not want to pay for mastering. I want to MASTER MUSIC (does that make sense?).. I'll buy the KRK V8s and the ultimate sound card. And quit my crappy desk job and revolutionize the way you perceive music. because i love it

Wow I posted that in the wrong thread. :-S

Personally I don't know enough about music yet, nor do I produce stuff. I'm planning to study it for a year or two after I finish my BSc degree though.
