That's what you said last night

Seriously though, whatever you think is fair. I'm not in it for the money, I try not to charge anymore than I need to cover expenses(not that anybody books me anymore ), but it's your decision.

Charging for expenses is reasonable. You can always ask for a small amount if the party profits- that's usually the best way to get on an organizer's good side.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I agree. Make sure your expenses are covered..gas, cost of the trip, etc... and then let the promoter know if they make a profit kicking a little bit your way would be greatly appreciated.           ~Airyck~

It sounds good man, I would shoot maybe $250 (whatever that is in your currency) But be open to less or just expenses if the event is in good heart and they don't make much...once you get going down the road you can ask for more.

You have to keep in mind, people come because of the event or because of an artist, so think about how much money you are actually making them by playing, how many people are coming to see you? Whats the cover? So if you think 4 people are coming to see you and cover is $25, then maybe ask for $75. Just reason it out. Good luck on your performance           ~Airyck~

If you're in Europe, a good perspective is that a lot of known DJs get about 200€ + , a relatively new live act will get about 200€ + and a lot of established live acts get about 500€ +. None of that includes your travel expenses.

Of course, reality (party attendance, promoter shadiness, etc.) are a factor. The most important thing is to be up front and clear with the promoter about the business end of things before you step out of your door so you don't have any "misunderstandings" when you get done performing.

500€ is actualy pretty high price to charge for a local liveact..at least in northern Europe and suggested your not Electric universe or something..between 300 and 400€ is quite ok i guess..but anyway depends on the party and most liveacts around here suggest a price in that range..but if the party fails and there are too less people & stuff they are satisfied with less..always think about the costs the organizer has to stand for...just keep in mind...

also depends on your style imo. cause there´s no way to compare a trance artists gage with the one from a darkpsy artist.

i know people well established for years now in the scene, playin international for fees like 100€ or 200€ and i think acts like Electric Universe will charge much more......

anyway it also depends on size of the festival/party/happenin

and i know about people (trancescene) gagin 24.000$ for three gigs (!!!) on the other side. i dont wanna talk about names here. but this is fact sure one xtreme that´s not the usual. anyway....

for me i have to say it´s fair to both to calculate the fee from the entry. let´s say there are playin 5 artists on a small party with 15€ entry. and check up who´s playin on the party and where´s your music between. are u the headliner of the party or whatever. at 15€ entry indoor party i.e. i think 1€ should be ok. and it´s also good for the organizer, as he can calculate it from the beginning hand has not to fear that he´s not able to pay the artist.

200 guests= 200€ excl. travelling expenses.

and imo it depends on where i have been before

i think one should be completely satisfied visiting another country without the need to pay anything.

cheers
