i dont know about good ways to promote a party,but i sure know that spamming in bulletin 3 times a day from promoter,and a couple more times from each dj is a rather good anti-promotion

here it's usually internet forums and flyers on parties

What type of advert is most good, like what you prefer: see a beautiful flyer? Or maybe flyers are gone, now on top are wallpapers? Maybe some other type of advert is working on you better?

add cd's to the ticket 
specialy work good with new realeses as "realese party"
labels and artists should be happy if u offer him 300x3$ for 300 cd's. for the crowd this is includ in the ticket anywayz
great promotion and attraction to the party , specialy for presale limited copies.. and also great way to help artists and labels  if someone into it i will be happy for this kinda deal

I personally use internet with two or three key psy portals with the infos
Then artists and people do the rest if you have good name it go already too fast like that
For big event ( more then 1000 people) I also do 5000 flyers spreaded all over europe, and really a little locally ( as mouthspread works already enough well)
