Hi
when i make a song sometimes i have 20-30
traks in 1 Song.There4 Eq-ing
this 20-30 one bring drive my CPU usage
crazy .
Should i use subgroups 4 Eq-ing or
copres. and other stuff ?
How many traks do u use in your arrangement ?
Is thre any vst-plgn with a bandpass filter
which i can automat in SX3 ?
I have also problems with subrouting
using the side-chain fx,i want 2 use only the fx(4 Eq or something
like this)not the original signal.
Is there a work around ?

Do you mean effect or instrument tracks? It's common that psy tracks have many many instrument tracks. I usually have several dozen. I try to make such sounds that they don't need loads of effects, but often I have no choice but use fx to get the results I want, so I tend to have many dozen effects tracks too.
I don't think it's a very good idea to share an EQ with many instruments if the instruments are playing at the same time because usually the instruments require different settings (apart from a low-cut EQ for leads so they don't clash with kick & bass, for example). If they however don't play at the same time, you could share the EQ and use program change MIDI messages to change presets if that's possible for effects in Cubase. Sharing a comp for simultaneous tracks may be a good idea because using the same one for multiple tracks tends to make them gel together better, provided you can find a setting suitable for them all.
To ease the CPU load you could for example
a) freeze tracks,
b) render them into samples and play them in a sampler (uses far less CPU), suitable for effect sounds and kick & bass,
c) use compression, reverb and other polishing stuff only in the final mixing stage when you can freeze tracks that don't need to be edited any more or
d) use program change messages for synths so you don't have to load multiple instances of the same one.
There are a gazillion filter plugins out there and you can automate right about all of them in Cubase. Do a search for filters at kvraudio.com

50-80 tracks on average, just depends though, sometimes I can get alot accomplished with less. I usually don't go sparingly on tracks, If I make an edit of something and it needs different fx or something then I'll make a new track for it. |

My best results are achieved with 30 Audio Tracks, 24 MIDI tracks, 7 FX tracks, 5 Group channels, 5 folder tracks and 1 marker track.
Everyone in the world is doing something without me |
