cd's ..not that much maybe 100 or 150 that's it,it's a dying format for sure .In a decade we will hard remember that there was once a cd.

I guess you own no vinyls
My cd collection is close to 500hundred...but growing!!! I like having cds and vinyls...it's part of my music culture!!

your guess is wrong.
My main collection of music is in vinyl,I have not that much but a few hundreds of selected vinyls from all genres.
This is my passion,I would pay the double price for a good vinyl,as I did often.
Sometimes like for instance Future soudn of london I have both the same on cd and vinyl but vinyl is always something special,the format itself ,the cover,the analogue sound,cd is only a support for the artist.
my band is working on a vinyl,which means I would never ever be lucky to bring out a cd for instance or a digital download ,which is nice and good that everyone can start it.Vinyl is a real immortal release,if there is a demanding crowd for it of course.

My collection peaked at around 1,500 items, both vinyl and CD. I have since liquidated the vast majority of that collection to use as Ektoplazm seed money(to fund free releases and keep the servers up. Nowadays I have exactly zero CDs or vinyls in my space and a few hundred more in storage that I was never able to sell and will probably just give to a collector some day.

That is a wise way to go about. Buy what you feel is truly worth it! 
I buy more albums compared to compilations for a while now because I feel that they are truly worth supporting. I feel that a lot of effort goes into making an album.
