I'm unfamiliar with Darkpsy as a genre. Ive heard of different psytrance being labeled all sorts of crazy names.... hehehehe
I exclusively write what i call NightPsy. Dont know if it would be called darkpsy tho. What exact elements make a track belong exclusively to darkpsy genre? Bpm? Key? Horror Samples?
yes i would consider that Darkpsy, of course Nightpsy is just another term for Darkpsy!! Just as I have already mentioned!!!
Ok then, well I guess that i write a fair bit of this genre.

forget the genre and make the music you like at this moment
But all that aside, when someone says "darkpsy", we all know the music that they're talking about.
The original post seemed very straight forward to me.
that is right.Even though to me are artists like Ka-Sol is dark for instance ,so I'm quite unsure about defenitions.
It might is a light weigt trance for the ultra speed hardcore trancers Apart from this I don't think there are that much artist who are stricktly producing one type of music nonstop.
Although there are for sure some.

Right you see, when I originally said "Darkpsy" a lot if not all of you knew what I meant. However, I really dont "I mean this personally" think that darkpsy has to be strictly dark sounding... It is called from what I can gather darkpsy for the use of sounds which are not at best overly melodic such as styles like psytrance or full-on which cater to a more melodic sound.
Over on another post I asked this question is darkpsy mainly just sound effects? I would say yes, given that darkpsy artists such as (Noise collapse, DigitalX, Khaos Sektor) feature only sound effects in their works, however not to say they are just random noise - that is bullshit to say it is random, I think we can all agree RIGHT NOW it is anything but random sounds... My first track in Darkpsy I made "Twisted Cannibalism" took me a long time to create the intricacy and complex sounds.
So back onto the topic,
Q: How many of you produce Darkpsy, and for the sake of some I'll add it's other umbrella terms which are (Horror trance, nightpsy, killer trance, Horror Psy, and black trance)
Basically they seem to have many definitions for the same genre, I have no idea why since they are all the same sound... I would think though that those who make Horror trance are strictly horror sounds, but to me personally DARKPSY is darkpsy for the use of sounds and not for the darkness of sounds.....

Darkpsy, and for the sake of some I'll add it's other umbrella terms which are (Horror trance, nightpsy, killer trance, Horror Psy, and black trance) - Psycore, Uptempo, etc etc , they really do think we are all evil dont they , hehehehehehe evil i say
Inspirations-
Baphomet Engine
Silent Horror
Gappeq
Cymazz
Pondscum
Hefty Output
Audiopathik
Ocelot
The Claw
NRS
Devient Species
I write music that keeps the bassline rolling sometimes non stop from open to close. THe KB section of the track needs to contain the groove and the bass needs to be repetitive. I like to add alot of white noise and digital air. 16th acid tones and grainy pads. I do like a haunting melody especially after you have deprived people for so long. I like to keep the BPM around 155 give or take 5 bpm. A nice riff here or there doesn't go astray. What do you think of this http://www.sendspace.com/file/e6uo6b
Not stricktly darkpsy but i think it has the elements you refer too.
Thanks

Omveda rocks!!!!! Love mr mash. But yeah night psy is a better term then darkpsy for sure.
Dont get me wrong i do completely understand the context of the original post, however I think that many producers out there don't want new ears to be tainted by the label "dark" and generate pre conceptions of theme within the music. I feel that dark/light , good/evil is something within us. If we see dark or evil it is the darkness or evilness within our own ego manifesting within the track, not the darkness of the track manifesting within your ego. In the shadows of the night i take my demons head on, the music , my savior isn't light and fluffy or dark and nasty. My saviour is more complete then either and transends darkness and light.

being the only genre you focus on that is?
well never exclusively for sure... nothing is and never will be exclusive for me.
anyhow with that i focused on darkpsy / night fullon for entire 2009
all under 'Tsabeat' moniker.
result:
-warp speed ep (available free on ektoplazm)
-logic of the art (Album - coming soon)
-(un-named) album (coming later and abit darker style then 'logic of the art' which is sunrise power style)
but also
-half new sattel battle album
-couple of prog tracks
-one chillout

lol, what a backlash to my original comment. strike a nerve, did i? but i stand by it. create what you like and let other people put it in a little box for you. or, you can put yourself in a little box and restrict your view from what you see there. really, why try to fit a standard mold?
Are you connected to yourself?

I write a lot of darkpsy.
I know of no-one who exclusively writes in only one genre.

I write a lot of whatever... sometimes slightly more melodic than others... but I've made downtempo, dubstep, techno/garage, whatever the mood calls for... it took me several years to make something other than hard psychedelic trance, but in the end anyone whose been doing it for a while gets bored and wants to try something a little different. Even if it is just for fun.

Working on most styles of EDM / Psytrance in general... No exclusive pick in terms of styles of psy or EDM.
Most of my production is based on my mood / emotions / time of the day or night that I start production....
one of my tracks:
Im not sure if you would call it ^^ nightpsy / night trance / dark psy / horror trance / horror psy or just Psy... i wasn't too sure either which is why it says dark psy / horror psy beside the name of the tune....
