No any special rule's , Actually this is not matter .
This is all about time , Experience , Professionalism ,
What you want to get And how strong is your computer .
This is also about the style you create/Working on .
This is also about right order inside your project .
TechTrance - Between 90 To 110
Dark - My max' track 195 channels .

It differs alot. If you put a single sound on one channel it will be ALOT! But if you use one channel for different fx and sounds you can save alot of tracks. Usually I have about 40-60 I'd say.

MY first track in flstudio had around 80 (20 midi + 60 audio tracks),my computer at the end started to work really really slow.As a matter of fact, when I open the project today it barely works.
In Ableton it is much easier (for me atleast) to make crazy ass automations,so I prefer playing with automations to create new sounds that adding new channels,my second track has 10 or so midi tracks and couple audio and it sounds pretty ok .
I hate seeing many channels,it makes me really confused as hell. And I always start to worry that my computer will lag if I add another channel. From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

the track I create now (so far only 4 minutes) has around 70 but almost the half are busses (groups, sends etc). I try to make less and less though, cause the more tracks the more complicted it gets in spectrum to seperate frequencies. I suffer in making too much lines anytime so far when making my sounds.Gonna post sth soon in workshop maybe someone can give me advice.Peace

Not that this maters at all (i know its very relative), I'm just curious, as makus states this tells about the workflow.
I end up with around 100-120 chans... sometimes I bounce and group to around 60-80. |

Good lord, I usually try to stick around 60-80 for simplicity, but I'm bouncing a track right now with 110, not including extensive bus tracks for reverb, band splitting, group compression, NY compression, automation....
My 2010 Macbook Pro is getting raped by it. If I even open the track, I have to restart before I open another one.
Methinks I need to use the freeze function some more.
