@psyaudio: yes i see, it was a misunderstanding. i thought you say to alex that he first has to get better to use more than one bass. and i know the quality of his music and was surprised about such a statement. but everything clear now. i like your way of thinking and its not my aim to disrespect people or argue here either. wish you a nice weekend as well. peace.
@alex: i like your music for sure. not everything exactly my style but awesome productions. i first heard some of your stuff frome friends i have in greece
like especially the bossa track you have on myspace. also good we to you. |

i should have known mate, in fact it was too obvious that you mean it this way. i replied before thinking properly about. so everything's cool.
and to stay on the subject, i have the same opinion about basses. better one good mixed than 3 fucked up basses. it's difficult anyways.
but to layer waveformes or add some subs to bassguitar is cool. |

actually if i wanna change my bass i automate filter, or switch with midi parameters, but layering, i dunno...
bass has always been bass, i like bass clean, not warbly
i got the synths parts for that, i need a backbone for the foundation and bass is just that. dont over do it, listen to all types of music and you'll the purpose of the bass it follows 90% of the time the drummer....ah the good old rock band dayz they were fun though hardly anything would get done... highschool for ya ass! |

I have used 2 basslines in the same track with a pretty cool result (phat), very difficult imo but not impossible.
The trick seems to be to make sure the same frequencies don't cancel each other out when you layer them. Also try to take 2 basslines that have different caracteristics...

layering sounds!
just layer tree basses if you feel you must do that to get
the timbre you are after....
its kind of like using 3 or more oscilators to make a sound(but not really)... maybe you wont run them all in the same octave, and maybe you cant control the frequency of each seperate osc inside the synth... lets say you could, link osc1 to filter 1, link osc2 to filter 2 and so on, this would give great control..
any synth that can do this? i want it..
