Hello, I am new on the forum , I am From Belgium and try to make real oldskool goatrance like in the 90's.

Anyone have some tips for create unique sound like in asia 2001, for exemple:

I have a lot of song nearly finished but it's sound too much like newschool or full on.

If anyone avec some tips for making coolest organic sound???

Thanks a lot for taking time for this

Have a nice day

one of the problem is that lot of the new synths and plugins sound really modern compared to the synth used at that time for that kind of sound.
to get ride of that modern sound even running the sound thought my analog gears don't cure it totally..it s fucking hard to get ride of the modern sound when using modern tools,it s like something is lacking ...i get decent result with korg, xils lab and a few more, maybe try these if you use software

both synth you mention are digital ,i used them a lot , we owned both back in the day but depending what you are after you may be disapointed...it s so much about taste that i don t want to tell you to buy something and then you regret it.. maybe listen some demo online, try a search on soundcloud and listen just to get a idea of the caractere of the synths.

here we were really fan of the roland sound at that time but it was before the jp8000 got released, more their analog stuff like sh,juno,tb,tr... i know the arp 2600 ,ms 10,ms20,pro one are great too.. but these gears are very old now, expensive and in not so great condition.

maybe you could stick to plugin and va like a nord and record all your synths to tape.. it s the cheapest way to get ride of the "cheapness" of some synth sound and make them sound more real, even these old 4 tracks recorder we were using 15 years ago can work amazing

about the nord you could try the nord g2 demo and see if you like it man, nord 2 sound even better imo but it s maybe not what you are after for goa..depends your taste, personally i would look at modern analog synths too ,some vintage ones are my favorite sounding but it come with some hassles like repairs...

dcam synth squad can also be good,it dont really nail analog sound, but its very decent software but it s a bit tricky to program depending your experience with synths.
give it a try ,gain staging is very important in these synth, dont hesitate to lower a lot the filter and amp drive.

u he ace is also great,it not really close to the analog sound i like but i can see it beeing great for goa even if it sound very modern to me.

if you want to use vst's i recommend: the korg polysix,ms20 but especially the monopoly.
the imposcar. for 303 audiorealism bassline or d16 phoscyon.

just my 2 cents ;-)           access virus ti,waldorf blofeld, korg microkorg xl, roland sh-201, clavia nord wave, korg kaoss pad 3, DSI Tempest, hohner something...

definely try the korg legacy collection, the digital one too and the synths i miss the most vaz modular , that thing sound brilliant for a software, bring it to mac ! but it s not planed

imo with korg legacy xils lab and vaz mod you can get decent result but you might still have that little something missing..a kind of cheapness into your sound, more 2d cause it s only emulation and none is spot on cause of technical limitation.

even when listeing some trance around 2000 it can have some quality that you don t find in today trance ,that can sound way more cheap imo but have some other quality.. like clean and well balanced.

use lots of different quality equalizers with certain signature sounds...the only problem is that it will get cpu heavy.           access virus ti,waldorf blofeld, korg microkorg xl, roland sh-201, clavia nord wave, korg kaoss pad 3, DSI Tempest, hohner something...

Thanks for all your tips, i taste your vsti before thinking about hardware.

I speak about the roland JP 8000 beacause Filteria use it :

I am also a big fan of filteria

I have see some tips for sound in the forum like use effect like distortion, do you think it's a possibility to improve power in my sound? it's for 303 and lead right?

For davinski: i see you are from Belgium greetz , you make oldskool too ? you have a myspace of soundcloud ?

For PoM:you make also oldskool too ? myspace , soundcloud?

Thanks too you

i make very different kind of styles of music....for most of them i'm not aware what styles they are.
I never finished a goatrance track tbh.
I experiment to much with different kind of fx and synths...
But from my experience by listening different kind of vst's i reckon that the sound of the korg synths, the NI pro-53, the abl gives me the sound i'm after.
i love music like: filteria, afgin,antares,goasia,khetzal,....and the many oldschool projects like: man with no name, astral projection, etnica, bypass unit, simon posford.....           access virus ti,waldorf blofeld, korg microkorg xl, roland sh-201, clavia nord wave, korg kaoss pad 3, DSI Tempest, hohner something...

ohm mind i have the desire to come back to it...i haven t made goa since maybe 98 and all the tunes are lost since long time,we were making it for fun,we never thought about sending it to labels.. anyway production was not on par with the good stuff released we were learning and triping on the machines.

but today i wouldn not make oldschool goa..more taking the best thing i enjoy of today and yesterday music and mix it.
the goa music was giving us so much energy

about the jp8000 if i m right the jp8080 have some extra. it was so long time ago that i can t really say much about it,for us it was great for goa but we were noobs so dunno...maybe some plugin could replace it ,no idea..

and yes use distortion ! a lot and all sort of fx like delay reverb chorus... if you re not satisfied with the one included in your sequencer for stuff like chorus,phazer..the d16 fx are decent
