I was wondering how to go about treating sub bass and how low your frequencies actually go?

Depends on what kind of music you are doing, for me the deeper the better. As long as it doesn't mess up the dynamics of the rest of the spectrum.

For kick drums and other untuned bass percussion, you can go as low as you like. For basslines, there is very little point in going any lower than about 25Hz, as pitch becomes undefined below this point. Even 25Hz is seriously pushing it; I've only ever worked with one track whose bassline goes that low without turning unto a complete mush. How succesful you are at writing a bassline this low depends on many factors including your monitoring environment, choice of processing plugins and source synth, not to mention your own analytical listening skills.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

thanks guys just what i thought...my bass would always usually go around 50Hz and it just had no drive like you could hear it perfectly but it was not as thick as the drum so now ive begun to put sinewves around 30hz and its really making all the diference

I write in G a lot, so around 50hz is just fine. I've never felt the need to push that G to the 25hz mark.

C is an interesting key... the choice between 64hz and 32hz. I used to try for 32, now I just do 64. punchy           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

here u find a table and a calculator to display the exact frequencies.

Root Key in the calculator is the chamber pitch
(/2 to get a lower octave, *2 to get a octave above)

of your choice eg:
440Hz, 220Hz, 110Hz, 55Hz
or
432Hz, 216Hz, 108Hz, 54Hz
or
any other key

A low C is therefore 32.70Hz (or 65.41 one octave higher) @a' 440Hz
