usually somewhere between a week to 2 months depending on how my life, inspiration, etc is at the moment. I also tend to create a section and then spend a lot of time thinking about where it should go after that so the actually hardcore hands on the keyboard/mouse/synth time is probably closer to 20-100 hours per tracks, but spread out over a long period. Then again sometimes I bang out an entire track in like 8 hours so it all depends....           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

It takes for me something between two weeks
up to a month to complete a track.
The difference is only because of the mood.

Peace..

Perhaps it's better that everyone puts it in hours work 'cause: '1 month'...What does that mean? 8hours/day, 30 days? or 1 hour a day? Big difference... I spend about 60-100hours on 1 track, but part of that time is due to improved knowledge which makes me dislike my previous tracks and keeps me working on them.

It depends for me. When I started writing my first few songs, I had a lot of inspiration and ideas for each track. My first tracks took me 1 day to complete from start to finish. I would spend the next day fine tuning my mixdown and checking it on different systems.

My last track took me 2 days to write, and about a week to perfect the mixdown.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Real working time around 20 hours. But if you count all the hours I have no inspiration and I keep listening to the`same loop over and over again, it gets up to 300 hours. Usually most of the work is done in one or two days I have inspiration. And then one or two more days to make the sound more clear. But it's usually somewhere two weeks and a month.
By the way, does this happen to you? You keep listening the same loop over and over and suddently it's like you hear a melody playing in the background with a really low volume. It's like you can just hear it. That's where most of my inspiration comes from. Does this happen to you as well, or is it just me?

For me it can take forever if I feel like it. This brings another question, how do you know that your track is finished ?
Do you stop working on it because you think that you got all the parts ? or it's good 'enough' ? or you just want to move to a new one ?           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." Russolo, 1913

It takes about 3 months per track, but that's because i only have time in the evening and on one day during the weekend. It's a lot faster when you have a few days to work uninterupted and i think it would take me between 1 and 2 weeks for one track.
