I would say though its the promoters are the one's to blame.
I mean if an artist makes tracks with cubase, softsynths and automation what are they going to do besides fake it on stage. If they just stand there the promoter would probly think they didn't get their moneys worth. Hell, they could probly be more creative with djing but your not going to get as much for a dj set as for "live".
This is just what you get when you make djs second rate. |

A Fake Live ACT is not really possible
How can you fake the fact that you are acting live on stage
They are really acting and its live so its quite justified ^_^

We have a nice topic that really needs no argument such is this one. Obviously nothing will stop your frustrations because you're even not reading what I write... not reading it in order to understand it anyway.
So I'll have to ignore you... pls. excuse me!

You're quite right, this is a much better way - and one that I'm also following to the best of my ability - with the help of the other members of OOOD and Voice of Cod. It's a longer-term strategy though, and to my regret I find myself impatient. |

If it will help you, I'm also impatient as hell, but I guess you have seen that side of my temper too many times already.
Patience is the greatest ally one can have at his side. Castaneda in one of the books describes Don Juan returning to the farm where he almost got killed and winning the conflict by pure patience. I assume it's just a symbolic story by it helped me to be more patient... and it's a nice book that made me laugh so if you haven't already read it... maybe you could.

YES!!!! (and your projection in this one was great, made me LOL )
Then this has all had a purpose all the same.
And please, I really mean it, be consequent and NEVER react to my posts again. With your pseudo intellectual, unfitting therefore meaningless quotes and blabla you are diverting from every essence all the time. Its really wasting my time.
Please start with this one.

Now why don't you stick your pseudo pride up your ass and slowly start to realize that I'll do what I want regardless of what you would like me to do or not do to. The more you try in vain to act like a tough guy and command me how to behave, you'll feel like falling deeper and deeper in despair as you're starting to be aware of the fact that I'm just having a fun while you're accumulating frustrations and fears... now... I won't you to double that feeling and in your mind make a really bright picture of you going completely out of your mind as I don't give a shit about your commands. And if this isn't confusing enough for you... just double that feeling again, now, and try to read this backwards. Maybe it will make some sense to you in the end
This is how it looks when I try to divert from essence. Just so that you can have a reference for the future

LOL
Man, didn't you just say you will ignore me?
You are not really consequent person, are you?
Man, I'm just having a great week, came back to work and my students told me that they missed me.. and Ive never heard 14 year olds miss their teacher.. at least I never did. I just had 8 Weeks holiday with some of the best parties of my live.. As far as I'm conscious about it I would say I feel especially balanced and good these days. and then you are coming telling me I'm frustrated and accumulating fears? This is all so absurd that I really wonder where this might come from.. maybe projection?
Commands.. humm.. one more projectjon? You said you would ignore me, and I said yes, and PLEASE ignore all of my posts when you are on it... then you didn't ignore me all the same and started off again, telling me you wouldn't listen to my "commands"?.. humm..??
Thats all so pathetic.
Unfortunately I'm not wise and ripe enough to ignore your unfitting, nonsense "look I've read some books" responses to my posts.. so I beg (not command) you, big, unfaulty master of quotes, please, please just DO WHAT YOU SAY YOURSELF, be CONSEQUENT ignore my posts.

as amusing as it is to watch, it is clogging up the board. poor Arafela, she must be crying at the waste of binary space
you both have ranted on a number of posts now, how far is it going to go? may sound silly and kind of 'cant we all get along?' but really one of you (or both) need to be the better person, and turn the other cheek, and start seeing the good in the other instead of the bad. laughing and calling names isnt going to solve it
i say this because i am concerned...
glad you had a good 8-week (jezuz!) holiday, smind.
shaman-t, your are pretty witty

Yea 8 weeks, but unpaid! Anyway... was worth it.
ok,
So let me pick up up frustration to change back to the topic.
Some years ago, when I was playing live I became quite frustrated. Because for each live act I carried my WHOLE studio to the party. Which ment the heavy yamaha 02r digital mixer, Virus, Nord Modular, 303, MPC-4000 and a Rack full of FX.
I arranged the whole shit live with the MPC4000 and the 02R. And whenever had a hand free tweaked filters of virus and nord. Imagine all that midi progamchanges for patches, FX, etc I had to program to get this running. And it must have looked kind of insane me carrying all that stuff around.
Anyway I stopped playing live, refused all further bookings for over two years, because during my live acts people came and said things like "can you play a song from ..." or once a person who saw the motorfaders of the 02r moving on their own (in programchanges happening between songs) insisted and told others that my liveact was all fake because he had seen the faders moving without me touching them... oh dear.. Today I find it funny, but then I was so angry.
So I decided, if most of the people don't see, appreciate me playing really live why should I bother? And I stopped playing live, since to pretend that I play live when I don't is really not my way.
But I recorded all the singletracks of all the loops with FX as audio and once I could afford a good enough laptop I fed it all into NI Kontakt and today I'm doing the same live arranging as back then, whereas I've just to carry the laptop, interface, BCF2000 (motorfader for cubase control) and the 303. Tweaking the virus and nord I don't anymore. And with one of the new songs I'm just dancing around behind the desk.
For me personally, thats the least "live" I go before I convert to be a DJ.
So what I want to say. The fact that most PsyArtists don't play live doesn't surprise me. On one hand it maybe very difficult, but on the other hand too many people have no idea or concept of what we are doing anyway.. so why bother?
I still bother (not as much as I did, though) because its my personal demand to myself to have my mood influencing my music while playing it. Its my personal demand to myself not to lie to the audience by turing knobs and pressing keys with no real effect.
For me thats the only thing I find lame. LiveActs pretending doing things, but in reality it has no effect. Just as in the Video I posted earlier. This kind of "lieing" I find very sad.
THE SOLUTION for all this:
Artists should stop to think that there is any need of pretending they are doing something which they are not.
If the laptop does all the work, all artists should stand their man, be honest and just be there, show themselves, dance, watch and motivate the people. (whats bad with that? nothing!)
ONLY Then people would at least have a chance to LEARN on their own, that there are different sorts of liveacts..
Those who stand there, dance, present their music and those who really play live.
And from the effort the artist is doing they could decide on their own where between those two extremes an artists stands.
All the "live" pretending is distracting from the truth and turns down the effort of all those really playing live. Audience and orgs becoming more critic possibly would only lead to artists pretending more accurate or more in general.
As I say so often, its all starting here. With us.

Regardless to anything in this topic, out of pure desire to improve my vocabulary... can you please tell me what the hell is "Fuxache". Obviously it's either slang or a name but I can't find any reference to it that makes sense.
@ daleks: tnx for the tips. as usual you have a point there! "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"
