from my experience the few artists i know all learned most things by themeself and each have their own way to produce that work for them... these guys work so much, maybe even more than a real work , it s lot of dedication. no one can learn you how to eq or use a compressor casue it s all about training ears, sharing knowledge is great for technical stuff and to get new idea to try things but it s not that usefull in the end, it s more the hours spend producing, these guys make 10/12 hours of sound each day when in the studio since years, i think that how you really learn ,working hard ,even working with someone experimented won t help that much cause back in your studio your on your own ,with your ears and monitoring. |

Agneton, the biggest fan of Nitzhonot, is in Belgium. The Naturall crew is there too, I think. |

Although I'm a firm believer in working by myself... I do think learning from experienced producers can make a huge difference. In my case I have the fortune to have learned from very talented guys (Reefer Decree, Tron, etc.) but I had to pay them for lessons, I don't think I could have that experience otherwise.
Thing is by looking at them as they made a track I had a very enlightened experience and could ask about anything I had doubt about (sometimes much better than isratrance advice). Also they thought me, in a way, to listen better and how to notice particularities in sound...
Then I have used that knowledge to develop my own style, technique and listening skills... I just wish I could find experienced friend that won't charge me for every quality advice xD
For other noobie friends I try to be that, a helping dude that throws free advice on everything I've learned.
Nice thread so far... thanks everyone. |

on a different note, i did teach my self everytihng i know, which i am greaful for, as we don't sound (that i have heard anyway) like anyone else. another reason for this is not using any presets (my first synth in uni and the one i bought was a doepfer modular tarted with a 3U unit and over the years made it into 12U) so it was a matter of principle to start fom scratch with most synth sounds, including kicks.
peace out.
