After having terrible luck with a toshiba p105 laptop giving me glitches during live performance and then spending hours reading about PC laptops which all seem to have problems im seriously considering going the mac route. I just want something that works and is stable.

having said that, all my software is on pc and i would still want to do the bulk of my producingg in windows, there are so many more obscure plugginss available for it. Id use abelton + osx for live performance.

has anyone got a macbook/pro and used it for producing in xp? how does it run? ive got a motu ultralite + virus ti, do you think they would go ok through a macbook running xp?

it would be awesome if this didn't turn into a mac vs pc debate

have a nice day

hi, i'm playing with a macbook pro 2,33 c2d, i use window with cubase sx and works great, i have a motu ultralite and after some problems now works great with fw800 on window, so, i think there will be no problems, i took the same decision when i decide to buy a laptop, there are many problems now with notebook so i decided to buy a macbook p and try to make music with win xp, wow its powerfull enought for anything you want to do, any vst and dual core works fine. listen to me, when you install window don't forget to find on microsoft the right hotfix for dual core and firewire in window, the dual core hotix is not important but firewire hotfix is the one you need if you want to use ultralite on fw, bye

I have a macbook dual 2ghz running ableton 5 i find that it gives me a stable enough base to work with, not crashed on me yet, fingers crossed, running audio and vst parts
i have got xp running on it through boot camp and no issue so far but to be honest i've not tried sequencing etc.. with xp on it, should be stable enough to tho if you needed it.

There is a great virtualization program called Parrallels that will run windows on a mac...or linux in xp/vista. According to folks I know who use it, it is far better than bootcamp....and it's really cool to watch the switch between the mac os and windows!

I have absolutely no problems with music on pc laptops, and don't know anybody who has.

did you turn of the dynamic cpu frequency switching feature? do it with speedswitch xp, a nice little tool

you DID have a notebook WITHOUT shared grafics memory, right? cause thats the most that can be bad about a notebook.           Most of my music for you to download at:

yea fl studio skips and grabs too much of cpu usage

nuendo and sx work perfect

the delete key works in nuendo and cubase
but not for regular file deletion

you could get a logitech or any any other brand

wireless keyboard and mouse and solve this issue also

hope that helps            Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
