hard work , the dirty sound could come out of massive, resampled with fx chains ,these sounds are not that hard to make it s just different technic used , massive is killer for all these sounds with the modulations ,you will find tutorial on line, i think i saw a intresting one on soundtosample web site gonna check for the link

massive is godsend for these kind of sounds and everyhting that wobble , look at this , i like it, i use more and more thse technics in psytrance it really have his place imo, always same sounds get boring can t wait some taltned artists bring fresh sounds we are not used to hear. in psytrance it s long time i didn t say to myself wtf how he did this sound...they make amazing tricks and breaks but the synths patchs are rarely surprising.

for the dirty leads in the track you uploaded i would use this technic with the performer and resample it with some fx , distortion...the perfomer modualtion in massive is amazing , you can do it in zebra with the mseg envelop too but it s far to be as easy to come with something great cause of the workflow .

+1 for dubstepforums... but skrillex, really!?!?!?!
maaaan. it's times like this i have to cool off, smoke a phattie, and say "yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man."
i love some dubstep (i post about making psychedelic dubstep often enough here hehe) but skrillex is terrible imo!!! well, to each their own of course
however, i will admit that some of his basses DO sound fat (in the way that eskimo's basslines sound fat, or new school gms leads sound fat, if you know what i mean )
if you guys like real interesting, creative, twisted dubstep, check out bird of prey @
or perhaps the widdler @

I'm not a fan of dub at all. 90% of the time it grates me, the rest its barely listenable.
Butttt, a few of skrillex's songs I think are insanely cool. Kill everybody is one of them. That song is awesome on my subs.

i don t know much about dubstep i like more real dub music but there is some cool technics used like in dnb , first video show that and could give idea to everyone , it s possible to make killer psy leads you never heard before by getting inspiration of this while programing and sequencing synths line.
what i like too ,it s really good use of software ,it would be hard to make it with hardware.

Just like emo/screamo (lol), what today's youth calls dubstep has been the fastest rising and declining trendy subgenre.
Anyhow, all down to taste and all that, but this stuff is for ex-emo kids that finally reached the age of 18 and can go out to "dubstep" parties, without having their moms pick them up (most of them anyway). The teenagers in Athens Greece, ram bars and clubs that play this music and go ""bo" at every bassline drop...which sounds exactly like the one before and the one before that....etc.
Anyway, to be honest, anything is better than emo.

Skrillex makes fun music, Eskimo makes fun music, people like to party. People love dirty grungy sounds, Skrill makes them good. One of the reasons I check some of his stuff out is because of the production. Clear, loud, but dirty and distorted.
and haha disco, finally reached 18 and can go to dubstep parties is funny.
Also, Skrillex rocking the nursing home haha. Shit's hardcore!
I don't really know how Skrillex's studio time is allotted. Like if he makes a beat first or whatever.
He definitely has to start with the bones of the song, so I'm guessing he starts with that lead in the beginning, adds a beat, then makes that big break, then just keeps micro editing it and automating that big synth sound.
I really don't think Kabbalistic really cares about everyone's opinions of Skrillex.
All the judging and saying this is ludicrous! ! ! !

like i said to each their own! skrillex does do those bass sounds nasty and good.
if it's the sound you are looking for, a good multi-band distortion plug-in (predatohm works great!) on top of a bitcrusher will get you there fast.
imo you can skip manual bandsplitting if you use a multi-band distortion really well. it's awesome one of the videos was using melohman, i grabbed a demo recently, loved it, bought it immediately, and it's currently in about 20 out of 45 channels in my current tune lol.
