Usually with a basic main melody or a twisted lead sound, then I make simple a kick/bass/hihats loop for it. Later I drop in more melody and theme variations, percussions, atmospheres, pads, until I have enough material to start building the full lenght track of them...

Kick & bass & percussion. Than I move on from that building the first parts of the track. AFter that the break and onwards to the last part. Intro usually comes last.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

Kick and bass then highs/percs...

I will seq. about 3-4 minutes of kick and bassline with highs right off the bat. After that my ears need a break from just kick and bass so I do the intro.
For me those 3 (K+B+H/P) are the life blood of the whole track. If I already know where the track is going the rest comes alot easier.           \\\"Invoking the inner dancing buddha with future frequencies from beyond\\\" ~GyPsy

I build first Kick Bass , after that make some Hi hat and Percussion Loops to get a groove .
Now i can make some leads ,fx etc.
building one part as 4/4 , is good i build the next, after a few hours i have 3 to 4 minutes now i can make some breaks , uplifter downlifter a break in the middel and a mix out .
At the end i build a short intro

usually i start out with a kick and then go straight to the main melodies. bass comes shortly after that or sometimes while still playing with the melodies. then comes intro+first part and hihats after that.
but it really depends on the track. with the one i'm currently working on i started with a chord progression on the pads...

I think it is always best to start with the main element or the most important feature of the tune to become. I start almost always with kick-bass combination, sometimes with a melody. I do intro and outro almost always as last things. I mean, how could you introduce a tune (intro) when you don't yet what you are about to introduce

I imagine intros as long pieces of transcendental samadhi .Not the usual chord stuff or a few seconds trick sortof anything before the beat , more an atleast one minute of magical drop before the freak out.Sth wich evolves and developes that you can not await the kick to release all the energy.
This is to me an interesting intro.
Outro usualy comes last,I agree. But intro is sth else, altleast intros of what I personaly dream of.          https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

I dont know why, but I love to start with intros...

Usually start with some pads and noises and fx's...

For me each track is like a personal journey, so always like to set the mood of the track before going into beats...

But off course is also good to have the kick and bass already set up to get the possible sound of the track.

But off course that kick n bass its very important to have it running smoothly.

but there are lots of people that start right away with kick and bass, which sometimes I can find it to much non organic way to start a track...

I really love to start the history as it is, not with kick and bass, just my humble opinion
