I mean ones where you get single hits and loops presumably created strictly from these hits.
And I wonder if you use the loops, if yes -how.
There is a lot of stuff on the market, like Ecstatic Grooves or Techno Trance.
The initial wow effect of the demos is sometimes strong, but later I find these loops too specific.
Slicing seems to work only on those less dense, so I end up creating my own loops from single hits.
What about you? Pls share your tricks. |

I use Live 7's slicing. Except for Chaos, which I wouldn't use anyway, it does all RMX can.
Liveslice - I have heard about it. Gotta try. |

Load up some breakbeat loop in RMX and chaos it - then render to wave, choose parts you like, cut it up and delete the rest. Use at your own risk don't use any of trance construction kits - loops are too simple. I like to chop some minimal loops from time to time, and of course dnb/breakbeat (add fx and compress after you find something you like)

in cubase if I like the groove but not the hits used for the loop, I make hit points out of the loop and then create a quantize groove out of it. You can do the same in ableton 7 buy sending the loop to midi.... And honestly the stylus rmx's chaos is really really nice, it can provide you with a variation that you might not have thought of before. I tend to make my own loops and run them through there for odd variations that I didn't think to do myself.

I can tell you.
Take the loop in Live, create/correct warp poins and use the new function Slice to New MIDI track.
You get two essential things then: 1) MIDI Groove of the audio and 2) rack armed with samples you can now exchange with new ones.
Plus there is a wonderful thing in Live that if you mute all the notes in this midi and shift them all down to some unused region, say c-2, the clip maintains the groove. Try creating new notes with mouse click and move them horizontally, apart from the straight grid you must notice the said groove.
Is that what you meant Mubali?
Gosh, I didn'tknow RMX was so popular. |

Kinda... but I use the groove quantize in Cubase for that... you take a loop right click, and under hitpoints... create groove quantize from hit points, set the bpm of the original loop if you haven't done that already, and there you have it.
Although, ableton's way is much easier and in some respects better.
The only reason why people knock on the stylus rmx is because most people just see it for the library of loops that it comes with. If you think outside of the box a bit, it can become a very powerful tool with a lot of possibilities. It's a few extra steps to do properly, but sometimes it's really fun to do so.
