Curious to see how everyone uses digital music.

I am a Mac user and the standard deal with that environment is to use iTunes to manage everything.
Lately I have been thinking about switching to some other sort of file/folder type of system and maybe
a different way to listen to the music.

iTunes is indeed a powerful tool, but its either do your whole life the iTunes way or nothing.
Especially now that I am DJ'ing and using the music for more than just personal listening, I need a good system.
Thinkin' its time to do something else sooo...

How do you manage/tag/add artwork/organize/access your digital music?
Love some suggestions from the isra peeps - especially if you have found a happy alternative to the iTunes way of life on a Mac.
Windows users hit me with your system as well - I'll take all the info I can get

Peace everyone

Rapid Evolution is what you are looking for - amazing for organizing your music not only for DJing but for personal use. Although most of the time for personal listening I revert back to my Music harddrive, which is organized into the following sections:

Ambient/Downtempo
Dark
Non-Electronic
New-Psy (stuff I haven't listened to yet)
Psy
Twisted Stuff (yes...twisted records has its own folder hehe)

FUCK itunes - I hate that POS software. But then again I don't like Mac stuff in general, though that has more to do with the price and philosophy of the company as opposed to the quality of the software. Except Itunes and Quicktime which I both despise purely for their own shit-tastic reasons.

well CDs are digital format and that is how I mostly listen to music, by putting CDs in my computer and playing them on iTunes. iTunes is a piece of shit for copying everything you have on your HDD and taking up the space it does, but its GUI and general way of organizing playlists, is ok enough for me to use it.
The tunes I really like I burn on o CDs to have ready for playing out. At that point they get deleted from iTunes and whenever I wanna play then again at home, I insert the CD.

Itunes is actually lovely, specially on mac with automator and smart playlists and when not letting itunes organize your collection.

so itunes is a screen hog, super ram hog, harddisk hog with it's grotesque gui, claiming to be a full solution media player and it's still a slave to system audio settings? can't understand how it managed to stay so popular.

anyway, thanks the the tip Dennis. sometimes you have no choice but to use it. guess that was apples strategy in the first place.
