using good sources/tweaking well the sources , removing all muddiness if there is some to get a clear sound.

here your sample sound muddy and distorted (maybe on purpose?) i think your major problem is on the mids ,muddiness that make the mix not clear.

I find that not just compressors, but specifically side chain compression is really helpful to get sounds to interact with respect to volume. eg:

if you have your snare overlapping with your closed high hats or something (say they are both in mono and over lap in some freqs) one way to go about it would be to eq them such that they do not overlap, however, if you do not like the resulting sound, then sidechain the hats to the snare so they duck out of the way (get their volume turned down) when the snare hits. from what i understand, typical side chain settings have fast attack and a release set to taste depending on the sounds in question.

there are prolly a hundred videos on sidechain compression on google if you are more curious, and sorry if this is not new information, just my 2 cents.

For dance music I would say take most of the low frequencies out of everything except the kick and bass; use sidechain, it's really useful and I use it in all my basslines.

I think many people have the idea that compressors can save their mix and that is wrong. I'm not pro but I've figured 2 simple things that will make your mix sound much better:

1 - bring all levels down! I mix my kick / bass at -14db, this way I know my track will never be even close to clipping and you can play with everything more freely.

2 - try to get the desired sound ONLY using the synth you are working with. No EQ, no compression, no nothing! If you do this you will not only grow as a producer but also get much richer, less processed (and plastic sounding) sounds.

After this you can compress of course, at least the kick. I never compress my bass but that's just my way of doing it.           Free album out now:

i feel your track needs some glue-ing.
the HHs and some sounds in the highs seems to stand out
to much, you could lower them. also a master-multiband compressor helps here.

Hi Comet

I found the plug in T-racks makes a huge difference to the sound of tracks giving them more punch, power etc

I wait and try to use at the end of the process on a bounced down single track of audio but worth playing around with monitors and listen till it sounds loud and clear but not distorting.

Im no expert either but this made my tracks sound lots better to play out live.           http://soundcloud.com/particle-matters
