Im making music in fruity loops, but my kick drum allways make my mixes sound muddy.
How should i eq my kick drum, could i remove a lot of bass from them ?

same exact question here...i reallized that also...but what i think ( and i hope someone will correct me if um wrong) you have to remove everything from the kick pretty much except the initial click of it....but offcoarse this also depends on your bassline....if the bassline is doing all the rumbling then you dont need anything from the kick except for the click but if you have a very quiet bassline then i guess you just remove the BOXINESS of the sound which is around 400 if im not mistaken....
let me know gys if im on the right track           saii.rave.ca

i usualy make LP filter quite high (above 6khz up to 11khz)
sometimes notch out some clicky sound around 3khz-5khz , trying to avoid obvious 'hole' in the sound.

offcourse depend on the sample you use ..

i like (almost EVRYTIME) to remove 500hz out of the kick , without completly ruin its energy (usualy 3-12 db v shape notch)

250hz has great influence on kick drum too

around the bassy parts its really matters the sample , i find to add some 50hz notch of 6db can realy make FAT kick , but be carefull with the subs there ..

another thing to concider is the bassline , there should be obvious conection between those 2.           www.sattelbattle.com

basically there are 3 areas:

boost betwenn 50-150hz (bass)
cut between 300-500hz (boxiness)
boost between 1k-4khz (attack)

i wouldn't highpass your kick at all, make it shorter instead.           http://soundcloud.com/seamoon

Doesn't sound like you need to EQ it, try adjusting the decay if possible, or just replacing the kick.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

i often just adjust the decay like Kane says, sometimes i cut a little in the low mid and in the highs, but its very seldom, i try and find a good sample first of all...

it all depends on the sound you are after, sharp or round...

when you make and adjust bass and kick you should play it loud so you can hear when it starts to overload, also use spectrum analyser here so you see the freqs and were you might need to cut a little..

the snaredrum can sometimes interfere with the kick, so Eq that one also..

boost 50-60Hz (shelf or notch)
cut 250hz-350hz a little
cut 500hz
cut 1khz-3khz (sometimes very deep cut)           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

if its a sampled kick u can also fade out the kicks tail with volume slope, just as the 1st bar bass line starts that often clears up alot of mud
