I thought of how you work with other artists,

do you decide who to start?
or are you doing something individually, and merge it together?

How do you work in together when you have different DAW?

And how do you send the different things to each other if the user different DAW?

Thank you in advance

Good question's ..

* About working with otheres , Usualy things happen spontaneous , Can say about myself that i did't realy look for some one who make vs's with me (I can do by my own) But theres two thing i realy like , 1 Is the feeling of somthing new around , The change , Excitement (For me) - When thats taking me out abit from my usual musical world/Work's And i can see/Hear an different kinds of 'Line of thought' , 2 - This is realy release you 'To walk' Into/Inside another new track journey , B side your partner , Together . Some time result's are realy amazing .

* But .. This is only when both side know what they do .. Imo this is the only way do/Make somthing pro .

* About different daw's - Alot of headache but possible .

Ones (Year's ago) i made a track with Koozer mox & Hyper Dezmo (3 ppl's) But in the end .. (And i dont realy know what they think - During the process , Because they couldt realy 'Work' on the project , They just can send me sound's (Here and there) , This is all dan in my studio , No other way send the other's partner the all project , Only thing you can do is to send an wav file (So they can work on ) And this is what we have done , But that not say they get what they want (Im not sure) I can be sure the track become great , But what is worth when i get 20 sounds file's from each And/So made the all 95% of the rest here with my own .

This is why i say Vs' With different daw's can be nightmare (Kind of torture) , Because the project 'Must' be somwhere (Can't be in the air) And/So the partner with the chosen daw will 'Suffer' ! , He should do the all sound work , Everything .

So .. This is an real vs' ?

But .. After all , There no bad or right , This is fun .. All is good when you have that time and patience .

collabs are good if you go in his studio or he come in yours but via internet it s more a pain than anyhting else to me.
it have way more cons than pro..you re alone in your studio but have to accept different taste and idea you may not like or would like to change but cannot... + all the file sharing can be a pain and time consuming.
there is not the fun of beeing with a friend working on the tune ,that what can contribute to make the tune special and great.

Thanks for the answers .. if I understand you correctly, you think there is too much work with it, if you do not have the same DAW?

I thought Ableton live is nice if you both use it, because it has to freeze function

This is the best way for sure!

But with the internet way also will be made amazing stuff with high speed connection

Here is an amazing example:

H.U.V.A. NETWORK - [ Distances ] - ( Ultimae | 2004 )
Quote:

When swedish artist Solar Fields (Magnus Birgersson) meets french artist Aes Dana (Vincent Villuis)...the outcome is H.U.V.A. Network, a downtempo project where North and South regions mix and jumble together in a fluid manner.

The pair of sound architects explore ambient-electronica landscapesand their multiple layouts. The album was thought out and composed in two studios :- Studio Jupiter (Göteborg - Sweden) - Ultimae Studio (Lyon - France). Musical works and ideas were conceived in this two creation poles via a few travels and a high speed internet network connection, thus breaking [ Distances ] which separate the two composers.6 months of composition, 2 weeks of mixing and a week of mastering with Huby Sea, were necessary to give form to this outstanding encounter album.

Running the same DAW helps a lot.
Making music with ManMadeMan on Logic Pro, using dropbox, was a breeze.

Well, you have to prepare everything in stems and bounce to audio, so there's a different type of commitment and some more work -> but not impossible.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

one guy i have worked alot with is Virtual Light. We have made atleast 10 tracks togheter during the years.

Few of them at my place when he was visiting me. Then few over the internet (sending project file back and forth, we used the same daw)
and now our last one i did produce in my studio but with him sending sounds, leads and whatever he felt was needed, main reason for that is that his pc was broken and he bought a mac, and i work with a pc. That was also a great way to make a track togheter imo. Not as fun as doing it in the same room, but it worked. As long as u send the stuff you are doing, changing and fixing all the time so both parts can say what they like and dont like. So yea, i would call that a proper Vs as well.
Here is the track btw =)

out soon in november =)

another one we made sending the project file back to back.

well... for kyma we work with 2 different daws in 2 different countries and its the best.

first not being in the same room removes any pressure.
and motivates us to produce exactly the best we can that fit the track without pointing or influencing one the other.

second working in 2 different daws that both know very good gives an advantage on doing specific tricks and twists that normally should be much harder or not doable at all.

i always found that when producing with others in my studio or theirs i could not perform 100% lost interest very fast and end up smoking and drinking to oblivion!
