I think Nord Lead (i had 2x) is one of those synths you really dont need to mix at all, its cuts itself so nicely everytime. Very sharp, clear and atmospheric sound. Good for pads/strings and to fill some space on backround. Give your mixes more deeper color. For leads/plucked stuff i feel its too sharp itself, so i would smoothen those sounds with some other effects..
I got rid of mine back then because of money issue mostly.. I will get some Clavia stuff later absolutely, their are unique in their own way.. Maybe Nord Wave..           - - - - -

It's second time I buy one...still it feels limited and not getting out of it any great sounds used in the psytrance scene...

Any advice, or just sell it?

Hey,
It's like any other synth, learn is strengths and exploit them! You gotta work harder with some synths to make them fit in the mix as with the nord leads as they do cut through the mix not unlike most classic analog synths. Hard to tame but a character to die for! I think with the virus you gotta sorta work in reverse as it is thin to begin with and more sculpting possibilities and adding as necessary, the nord is fat to begin with so you gotta remove chunks to fit it with the rest of the instruments you have chosen.           http://soundcloud.com/multiv3rse

To answer the OP in simple terms....
You turn it on! That´s how.

Either readjust your expectations towards hardware or consult a neurologist as there must be some issues with your hand eye coordination.

The nord has been used in more tracks than you can shake a stick at, so it seems to me somebody figured out how to use it.           Mastering available here:

just a saw and a distortion after it you get classic psy sound a la infected
funny to me it s the oposite, nord 2 have been a lot exploited that it s maybe harder to make great unic sound than usual ones heard in lot of tunes

Iv got a nord lead2, as many ppl on on this thread already said fx fx fx, very hard to get good sounds just on the nord by itself, but for source sound its king, send it to good fx and it will come alive, unlike virus and most other synths u get good sounds right away because of the built in fx, with the nord it takes some work but well worth it

for me it can sound great even wihtout fx ,if one don t like the nord dry it s probably not the synth for him imo ..
for sound with loads of fx almost everyhting is good but i find nords to sound great wihtout much

i praise it but last time i had one for few months here he just collected dust but it s more cause of lazyness...last tune we turned it on to use it as a controller lol

Funny thread, I'm in the opposite situation from the OP.

Got a Virus TI, but as much as I love its depth and built-in FX, I struggle to get those clear and sharp sounds that seem to come out effortlessly from Nord Leads. Mind you, I've never played a Nord, but I believe I know its sound from many psy tracks (Infected etc). It seems there's something inherently psychedelic about the Nord sound ))
