how do u define dark psychedelic trance/night time psy technically?

good darkpsy might be able to be ruled by those deeper basslines and signature percussion/effects. at the end its all comes down to working at it till you find your vibe.
the great darkpsy however comes from creating mood... this might be what you're looking for.

I also heard that each scale or even note in the same scale has a different mood.Like F is more ment to be a different mood (maybe more a darkish one,not sure)than d etc..That is all quite interesting.
My cousin studied guitar at a very fine jazz school,but I haven't seem for a century since he's always on the road,he told me things like that ,but I forgot.
I mean d in spanish gypsy scale is another mood like a whole scale/melody of f in spanish gypsy scale or whatever ..I think you know how I mean.
And apart of it each note like g,a etc has a meaning or a mood on its own ,witout scales too.

I dont think so.Death is the new era of so called dark trance.
This is indeed that funny stuff more.
DArk can be also about just a darkish night climate ,more a mysterious psychedelic one than an wanna be evil one.

Dark psy or night time psychedelics( a term that i find the most suitable, for what i do of course...) is or should be a heavy ambient music that may or may not be faster than your usual 146 bpm, the use of speed in this style has been misunderstood (IMO), by way too many producers.
Higher bpm should be used with the objective of creating stronger percussion and add more drama and impact to the rhythmic sequences (synth vs fx). Though i sometimes use 160 (i have 3 or 4 tracks), it is justified by the drumming needs of the creative idea and not by a genre thing that you use this speed just to sound dark.
The differences between genres full on and night psy is quite easy to detect, shorter breaks and less quantity, deep kbbb bass, longer story, 3 to 4 sections, heavy ambients, kick ass percussion, High pitched synths with a shit load of automation, not so linear on the construction, PSYCHEDELIC CONTENT INSIDE  ... What Yidam said ...
Biggest difference in terms of production between genres is the simplicity of making a good full on track and the complexity of making a good night psy track (dudes its true so dont gime crap about it)

echo of death (good name for track imho)...not death...because death is the ultimate fear and 160bpm dark trance can scare a newbies to death

I find that dark between 145-160 is perfect usually for getting into a great dance trance, much better than any of the full on, prog or twilight styles.
I especially find labels such as Goan Mantra, Discovalley and lots of the Avatar dark style does this well.
The driving bass in a lot of the tracks released from these labels, with minimal glitching and intense raw synthesized sounds just drives me into a much deeper mind set.
I find the higher BPM stuff great for being in a lighter more energetic mood, especially newer Psykovsky, Furious & Crazy Astronaut, Cosmo, Highko, Highcosmos, Glosolalia to name a few
Dark for me has little to do with "death" but more with facing the fears and worries we have in our life and in our psyche and coming out on the other side dominating those fears so we can move to a new better stage in life

And not all full on trance is simple. Just most of it. |
