Hey everybody, I'm attempting to make the classic psy-twisty noise in my music. Hours of stretching and speeding up different noises in Kontakt and getting nothing. It's doing my head loopy. The closest I've got is by playing a long distorted kickdrum in a high octave.
It's been suggested I use a saw wave with some envelopes and distortion.. but I still don't come close.
If anybody out there knows how to make this noise then some basic guidance would be much appreciated.
Here are a couple of example mp3s I bodged together..
Heres a link to an example of the short zippy twisty noises
http://tomos.serveftp.com/twisty.mp3
and a long rippy zippy one (for desperate need of a better description) http://tomos.serveftp.com/twist2.mp3
I'm using Cubase SX3 and have various interesting VSTs.
Thanks x |

This sound should be simple with Albino....
play with the Glide function and use a saw wave...
also i think Hp filter....
maybe i can come up with a patch later...
But Adrenal Mode already has a preset bank,.. try it.. |

Hello guys! How do they produce those phat thundery, vibrating stomps in movies like 'The Village'? It's like a short, sudden very deep noize which makes the chair vibrating and you jump off frightened...
Any idea? |

I'm too lazy to hear the samples but i know what you're looking for.
Put the sample that you are working with in a low note. Turn the pitch up and increase the sustain.
If you want to get that wobbly sound in Albino make it wet and work with a sine. The saw will make it very sharp . |

Thanx for the tip robomarket. However it's not quite clear...you say that I should start from a sample (???). Coz I thought I should start with oscillators (I use Absynth). I played a bit with enveloped deep sines with enveloped modulation frequency...with no decent results
Nice effect tho...kinda impressive |

Hi E-motion,
Were you asking me what tracks I sampled?
One was 'Sesto Sento - Omiakon (CPU rmx)' from his Remixer album.
The other was Astrix - Tel Aviv (I think Astrix WITH Atomic Pulse) |

Yeah, that track is heavy! The whole album is brilliant in fact, picked it up at the sonica festival last year - bought it purely for the cover art |
