How do i make that sound

HI , i wanted to ask what piece of equipment i should use, to get the sound u can hear in i.e the track The First revelation By Alien project (astrix Rmx) .. its like a plastic sound ... or actually it takes many forms , but its the sound/synth dominating the track .. ( hope u know which one i meen

Well .. the sound is very significant, and is used in many mány isreali tracks ... its a half farting sound and a half plastic sound .... and .. ok ill try to find the number of seconds

It's kind of hard to understand what you are talking about but if i got you right you might be talking about a sound with a pitch modulated by an envelope.
you need to get the pitch modulated by matrix (pitch=destination , ENV=source)
and them play with the amount of modulation and with ENV itslef ,the closer the Attack and decay will be to each other the more fart like the sound will sound.
some synths have a special pitch ENV that is modulating the pitch at all time (z3ta for example).

If it's the sound I think it is, read on
I'm talking about the crisp metallic machine-like lead-like synth which really twirls around in the central nervous system. A sound like it can be heard in Neptune's brilliant track "96 K" at 5:00 or so.
The part about the pitch enveloping seems plausible, but I would do it with simple portamento. To get the spine-tingling machine-like feel, try the bitcrusher plugin included in Logic (other programs may have a similar plug...).
I think it could also be some sort of amplitude modulation. Once again I reference Soundforge for this. Choose an audible frequency (2 kHz or so) for the rate of modulation, and modulate with a "sharp" waveform (square or such).

Hi all , and thanks for the great answers
The sound is heard at 3.45 seconds ( my version is 8.46 long)
Im using the Cubase sx seq, is it possible to get a vsti that can produce that sound or some piece of hardware ..?
And i must admit those answers are to hard for me to understand  im a bit of a newbie when it comes to the technical stuff . but im getting better .. Once again thanks for the answers ill see if i can get something out for them

I have listened to it again, and I think I'm wrong, and motorik is completely right
What you need is a synth that is capable of the following standard stuff:
sawtooth oscilator
bandpass filtering (BPF)
pitch modulation by some envelope (ADR or ADSR, it doesn't matter)
Now, create a sound as follows:
modulation the oscilators pitch by the envelope. The envelope or oscilator probably has a knob that says "envelope pitch depth" or something similar. What you want is for the pitch of the sound to start high and go low ridiculously fast, to create a sound that goes "tjoub" (hard to explain ) - it will probably sweep an octave down or so. The attack of the envelope should be zero, and the release likewise. If you go with the most usual ADSR envelope, sustain is also zero, and the decay is non-zero, but as stated: fast - try something like 5% of full value.
Route the sound through the bandpass filter with three quaters of resonance, and tweak the cutoff frequency for fun and games 
I haven't tried it yet, but I think it will work pretty good...

hey there
I don't know what Hard synths or VSTi you use so i tried to think for you about one that can do this OSC Pitch modulated by ENV.
The only free VSTi i came up with on my mind was CRYSTAL.
it's free . Download version 2.4.
and try it , you should be able to achieve the sound you are looking for if you follow amygdala's instruction

Hehe, don't worry motorik - Rishi and I are on it... Turns out he has a Virus (lucky bastard), so it will work out fine
- thanks for the tip by the way, I already whipped up a similar sound on my Waldorf, and it is pretty darn nifty

I downloaded the Vsti And i love it thanks for the link .....Yes i have a virus .. but im a newbie on this path , so sadly i dont know how to use the synths optimal ( yet)

Hey rishi there is nothing like experiencing and learning , this is fun , sit with the virus's manual and start exploring the functions one by one , i learnt how to create many sounds (including this pitch/env sound) by playing around together with reading the synth manual and following ot's instruction
Yes crystal is cool anyway !!! Free and good.

if i understood right u should achieve this sound starting from the preset called arcade.
i personally own the virus c i hope u too if not load the new presets from the access site.
anyway after finding this arcade sound wich is like old video games sound u should probably hear that its close to the one u want .
like the guys said pitch envelope the adsr
tweak some reso or chorus in to it n your there.
