wussup people...
i have a question...
suppose i have a track or tracks which i feel are maybe good enough for sending them to record labels...how do i go about it...there not being many record labels in india, im not really sure how to go about it
would there be some kind of process...also which labels i should be sending to and which not, depending on what kind of music they support...is that something i have to take care of...and in what format should the files be in..etc etc......i would appretiate any words of wisdom...thanks. |

First of all, I would suggest you to try post some tracks (or short demos) in the New Tracks section. Maybe there are more you should learn before your music to labels, and in that section you can get very good feedback.
Once you feel (and other people feel that too )your music is good enough for release, try to find labels which release your style. Some of those labels are signed up here so you can send them a private message. Others you can email. Ask them about releasing your music in their labels, see if you can get icq/msn contact or anything. Then start getting things rolling.
Good luck

one of the best way i think, is to get in contact with the guys of the label directly ... to go on their webpage and send an e-mail (or pm from here)
try for begining little labels ... coz well know labels are releasing almust only the well know artists.
then you can give your promos to the labels and they will give you their opinion, give you others contacts which could be interesting ...
best wishes |

Record labels are somewhat tricky, don't know but most of them i dealth with were into commercial crap (just like they told me). Well i can guess there could be some rec-label reps at this forum but still got to say something i feel about them. I'll try not to diviate from the topic.
It's been a while i have been sending out my records all over the world: usa, uk, france, whatever, and the only response i get: "your tunes sound cool and all but we do not see any possibility to exploit its production nor to benefit from its sales". I also been spining my own stuff live whenever i get chance, i can for real say that my tunes aren't that bad, public reaction is awesome (that's the only thing nowadays that keeps me going at it), i get guys asking me: who tha artist was, and where did i buy that record. but somehow my tunes aren't good enough for rec labels. although some of the stuff i bought from the same recrod labels were horrible, even deaf people would've said: turn that shit off.
I did my own research afterwards and found another beneficial option: having pressed vinyls at my own expense, and dealing with distributors 1-0-1 afterwards. As of now, i am saving up some cash, so i can have my tunes pressed.
This way, i won't have to feel humiliated by rejection from some moronic a&r rep (who actually trashes whole electronic music scene with commercial crap), and my tunes get where they suppose to be: heard by the tranceheadz. Getting some cash out of it is a slow process given but, still at least there won't be no rejection.
P.S. I know not every rec label is the same so, just like i said, all of the above goes to the commercial crappy record labels.

as i did..
make your first demo.
copy it to 10 cd's.
make list of your favorite labels in this style - if u make intresting music.. dont send to "hommega" for example
but if u are clone of astrix or maybe your'e the next infected then thats the place for u
if u make dark style pm me i can give u nice list of labels that i find to be nice pplz - dont forget its pplz u deal with
anywayz.. send the cd on the water.. it will come back as good news.
for the detox post (link) i can understand.. but detox its u behind with your slow internet. using the web is easy fast and cheap.and anyone can add info to the files, just need to think of it.

Why not just release the music for free on internet?
do you want your tracks to be heard by other people?
a record label is not a safe bet if you want your music to be heard, i think its better to take care of that your self, be your own lable/promoter

bad idea i think
from personal expirience with the net - it will never bring you to the place ya want.1 realese worth more then 20 soulseek/emule/anything on the net.
the problem is you might put on something not so good and then you share demo as track www.sattelbattle.com
