How do i get paid for a remix?

Hey guys. I was just offered a job to do a remix for this up-and-coming girl singer who sounds pretty great, and also has a record company behind her.
I don't know how to handle pricing for this kind of thing.
I really need some help in this area. Should I do it for a set amount of money up front, then more if it sells more? Or how do I figure this out. Please help me with some ideas here.

If they offer an upfront payment take it and the usual 30% or so for a remix. Depending on what kind of label you are dealing with.
And don't send wav until you have recieved the amount you agreed on.

I don't know how it works in the states but here in germany for a remix you will get an amount of money from the contract -only one time. You have in 99% no rights for getting any more % in the future even if they sell millions copies and also no more any rights on it.
That was one of the questions amongst lots of others in my theory end exam at SAE.
No own expiriences with it so far.

It depends on the remix and what you expect it to be. If it is ready for the popcharts i'd recommend to go for a percentage as a remixer. But if it won't be played much just go for a set amount.

yes agree .. but you maybe won t really be in position to negociate what they offer you if it s a decent deal. |
