kabbalisticvillage, cutting sounds from youtube will make them sound badly, every song sounds kinda ugly in youtube, therefor if you can, you should really tweak them just enough to make them sound 'real'

I will always be a n00b. I hope I never get to the point where I don't feel that making sound is easy and trivial.
But the first thing I did when I first opened a DAW was to play around with patterns, trying to make sense of 1000 samples put together.

Altough my sound quality was horrible back then (and it's still not great) I think it was lot of fun being a noob and not knowing anything about making music (I really didn't have anything to teach me). So it was about discovering things back then... And I surely wasn't so strict with musical rules.
The tracks I made on my early years are not very good sounding, but Im amazed how I came up with all the cool things I have made. Actually I have few tracks that have had very good potential but I have "ruined" them by trying to master or add new things to them -.- Moral: make different save of your project if you want to fix things
