what is about david guetta? he is using a lot of samples & he earns more money than all of you together!

maybe we should use more samples to get rich faster

just proves my point if anything. sample your own there is so much sound in life, screw samplepacks.

I respect any artist who makes it by his own machine. No matter how bad I think his or her music is. With or without loops, it's about having fun and making a living out of what you believe is your purpose. Making noise

So, rip a sample off from some recording of a well known artist and you're creative but use a riff from a samplepack - that makes you a fraud. Dunno, sounds to me like we're hiding behind our finger here.
Let's face it. Prodigy didn't know how to play the guitar so he ripped nirvana and zeppelin and made a big hit. The kid next door doesn't know how to play the piano but he got a sample pack off the internet and who knows, he might do the next big house hit. Back in the day samplepacks where scarce and you couldn't download them off the internet so the easy way to make your music more interesting was to rip a loop or a riff from some audio cd from your collection or from your father's jazz albums gathering dust down at the basement. Fair enough, and also fair enough if one feels a little retro and likes to go down this road nowdays but putting one thing on a pedestal and flaming the other just seems not right to me.            Peace, Love, Death metal

it is the uniqueness factor!

what makes it YOU! this is what i am trying to talk about.

i don't want to hear an audio technician who has more skill at downloading ripped samplepacks, i want to hear music that reflects YOU, who YOU are.

and this you-ness is a process that to me is from start to finish.

now, we don't need to be anal and say "ok lets plant the seed that will grow the tree that will be the wood that will make the drum-stick", but to me, personally, this grey area stops with over-usage of samplepacks.

just take a good look and listen to what is happening in the past year or two. it is becoming more and more extreme.

everything is becoming one color - the Native Instruments + Abelton color, just shitloads of generic filler. it is like listening to music on valium or something.

That Prodigy video is classic. Inspired me to use loops in the first place.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Im with you Elmooht , 100% , And sure we want to hear different music , different loops , Each track different - Must tell you (This is more for the others cause you already know that , But ppls "The New 'Artists' Wave" just looking for an eazy life , They dont have time , They want to finish a track in a week or less and say "I made new track" , They dont care of the sound and technic , They get it reay and masterd by engineers , They are the best customers of those samples cd's . Hey mister .. This is not yours ! THIS TRACK SOME ONE MADE FOR YOU !!! , (To put them all together , this is nothing , Give me 2000 sounds and i make you a track in a few hours) . So ppls .. Stop be funny and recycling other , Sit on your butts and make your own tuns , This is not for me .. You dont make me a favor .. I dont realy care , This is for you and sure for an better/Interesting music here on this planet , Not more .

to be honnest this is a double faced tompic..

i can hear the amen break in 25000 d&b/breaks etc tracks but nothing bad happened there, but if a sample pack is overused its a bad thing.

the point for me is for the music to be nice makes me move and dance and not let me forget about it in a couple of months if not earlier.

if this track uses an overused sample pack or the dude constructed his own synth/vsti from digging the earth for metal or invent his unique programing language to make vst's is irrelevant at least.

music creation has no rules.. some are awesome sound designers others are awesome loop structurers.
so instead of asking your self if the artist overuses a sample pack just go load that samples in a sampler or a wave synth and FUBAR those samples to something new.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/
