i rarely used loops except highpassed breaks in the old days or percussion loops.. i like to do everything on my own but it can be a waste of time as it s way faster to turn a loop into your own loop... it depends the mood , if the aim is to finish a track with some friends or if i m alone having fun and get some materials ready to use in some later tunes..

i remember around 2000 with a friend at his studio he was making psytrance only with samplers ,sampling drum machines, synths, using loops.. surpised me a little at first. it was leading to a more teckish and psychedlic sound , i think lot of producers used to make psytrance like this at that time exploring more sampling and audio editing insteed of synths like it used to be in the goa days or today psytrance.
i don t remmeber but it may coincid with the time daw started to integret audio and editing that also helped to develop that sound , old stuff a la paps yumade..
to me it sound like trance made with mostly audio and sample, that trance was totaly the sound of my friend and the tunes we made at his place wihtout using any synths connected ,just the loops and shots sampled or the one find on sample cds and tweaked

Theres artists and theres "Artists" you know .. Like everything in life , Just saw an program in the T.V (Kind of comedy) We have this here in israel call 'Ramzor' So the story is about a married couple who saw 'Natuzzi' sofa (Model - 'The Black Mamba') in a 50.000 nis (In friends house) But they didt had the money to buy this expensive one so they heard from other friend that theres one "Artist" , You go to natuzzi .. Take a picture of the 'Back' And the 'Front' Bring those photos to him (George - His name) And he will make you in a 10 days the same one in 2.000 nis , So our friend go to natuzzi and take one picture of the 'Front' but when he want to take a pic of the 'Back' one of the managers there saw the flash of the camera and kik him out , Now he came to this george and george was realy angry .. "I tald you back & front .. What george will do now .. ? " So he say ok .. I have here (New) piece of shower/bath curtain (Pink color) We may add it (glue) in , 10 days left .. The sofa is ready , All is great and .. his wife sit .. And .. falling into the sofa .. And all is break down .. And she realy angry .. "How it become i pay 50.000 for this ?" (She ask her husband - She didt know he buy it only in 2.000) Day after she took him to natuzzi and scream all over on the sellers .. "How can it be .. ? We just got it yesturday .." And she want to see the manager .. "Ok ok miss .. But come down .." So the big director come and ask for the receipt/papers that they pay , And she gave him .. And he look at her and said "George design 2.000 nis .. Shame on you !!! Go out of here .. "
Same with the music ..
Make your own music , Be full artist and not 50% ! .

I did not really get that story, but i understood the point, and i agree.
Can be a dangerous circle to start using loops and get dependent on someone else work.
I never use any kind of loops. But i think loops can be good as inspiration source for example drum loops.

I like the idea of making each tone out of waves. But I believe 99% of all people that create techno if them call themselves artist or not ,are using loops all the time.
I doubt there exist famous guys that don't use any loops in techno music at all. For some that I got to know it is funny and nonsense not to use loops and keep such ideas as my first sentence, because lots of time can be saved and they earned already enough.

everybody that produce electronic music use loops in one way or the other...
just think about it....
prodigy, the chemical brothers, daft punk, house producers, techno ones, etc etc...
do you guys still think that they are less artists (or whatever you call yourself that you think they arent just because of the 'loops) then anyone around here?
