How common is it for artists to use loops?

I see SO many loops kits you can buy, drums, synths, bassline, percussion etc. And some of em sound so good, such high quality.
I am wondering how common it is for artists to use these loops in their songs. In psytrance and other styles. I am speaking more about synth and bass loops, rather than drum loops. Is it common practice?
Thanks

I never use synth or bass loops, but I'm sure it's possible to rearrange them instead of keeping them as they are in the track - and it might work pretty well.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I sometimes re-arrange my own recorded material...
It works pretty well...i can do things with it my synths can't do...reversing for example....
But i'd never go for a synth-loop I didn't create myself...

Same here... I always make loops from the sounds I got from my synth. Sometimes I use a sequence or similar sequence using the same sound. Works great if you stick to the same bpm. But synthloops from samplecd's? No, the chance that they sound the way I want them to sound is practically 0. If you re-use your own loops you can do fun things with them like PsYx said: reverse them, put them an octave lower (good for soundscapes)

synth fx, drumloops and swirls is very common that ppl use some from sample CD's.
But synth and bass loops i think is rare in the trance scene.
Most other electronic dance music it's quite common to use a lot of loops.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

I personally use samples for percussion parts and sometimes i sample speeches from movies.
There are a lot of artists who use samples in other ways. Some original, some not much. I, for instance would never use synth line sample or something like that.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I never use premade loops.
Make it all myself.

I don't use bass loops or synth loops unless I made the loop myself. I use drum loops till the cows come home, and I can turn a drum loop into a synthloop, but I couldn't see myself using a synthloop from a sample cd...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Melodic loops = no
Non-melodic loops = you bet your ass, but they're always processed and rearranged to fit the track.          Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Thanks guys that's what I thought.
I make music for advertising purposes and use all kinds of loops, but since there are soo many house and trance and tecnho melodic loops on the market I am wondering who in the real music industry might use them. I figure percussive loops were used and tweeked widley

It is very common. First examples that comes in my mind:

Ace Ventura - Judo Chop: final riff is a loop from Venceance Essential Clubsound vol.3

Ace Ventura - Connected: the melodic leads are midi taken from the DMS pack called Nuborn Psytrance Leads           Fire Walk With Me

i don't use them per se.

maybe 1-2 drumloop per song, under my own drum sounds, and with a ton of fx and mangaling.

i don't use loops in psy production. and the only one i've ever used was the amen break

i love making everything myself, anything else feels like cheating.
