When i analyse my favorite songs i find out that the kicklength are much longer than my own kicks.I can´t even get near these long kicks no matter what i do, i´ve tried timestretching but it doesn´t help me.
Amy suggestions on how this long kicks can be made would be nice !
Maybe it´s possible to make them in soundforge with sines which you pitch but how do i make them sound more "acoustic" which you can do if you layer kicks ?
When i layer kicks i can shape the sound just the way i want but in the mix it sounds
silly and i think it´s because of the short kick length.
Please help me out !
Regards Conny

could be the compression... try using a hard limiter in the kick... if it still sounds silly? then yes you need a new kick
if not compress it with a multiband compressor then limit it not-so-hard.
hope it helps |

try a real recorded bassdrum sample and maybe layer a sine kick.

maybe you are talking about full-on basslines?
or do you mean the big long bass kick sound...
-you can make long kicks like this with soundforge, try the infected mushroom tutorial.
-you can also do this with using a large Release time on a synth.
-adding reverb and very short delay to a kick can achieve this effect too. |

Im thinking a bout a band called vive la fete
Sundrop i will try your tip wand see what happens.Well i have tried the infected mushrooms tutorial but if i make a long sine kickin soundforge and tried to layer it with a short acoustic drumsample wouldn´t it sound weird because they are not in the same length ?
I´ve tried the infected drumtutoriasl but i would like to layer these long sine kicks with other acoustic kicks but it´s difficult because these are much shorter than these sinekicks which you can make in soundforge.
Sorry my english is not the best but what do you mean with more wavecycles ?
Best regards Conny |

why do you want long kick?
you mean that the punch of kick is longer?

Awww... you can make those long kicks in soundforge like in the infected mushroom tutorial (r) by using a long sine-wave or in any decent subtractive synth by using a long midi-note. Sample them and throw them in your sampler and use a short decay on the sample: drawing long notes in your sequencer makes the low part of the kick rumble on, drawing short ones makes the the kick shorter.

It's how you process the kick afterwards that makes it sound different...
