Take any bass'ish sound you want, modulate the cutoff using a envelope to sweep it, put a bitcrusher/decimator plugin on it. Tweak it to taste and you're done.

Isn't the same thing? Sound is sound. Getting from point A to point B has many turns, which you chose to use is up to you.

yes thats true however i still cant obtein sounds like that... probably i have to work more on it.....
but.. these kinds of sounds are very very popular in full on and progressive... i've always tought that they are some presets of clavia nord lead or access virus.... what do you think about? (fantastic stuff at the youtube link in your signature!)

Why not create something new instead of copying what others did before? All the copying (and asking for easy receipts on music forums) is IMO one of the reasons why music gets so stereotype/predictable within their genres.

Because a beginner in music production - who doesn't even know the basics of synth programming - will most likely not create the next new killer sound. What's wrong with learning what others have achieved so far? It is common practice in almost every other area of knowledge. As a total noob I was dying to get that "typical" bass sound or the psy squelches. Now that I know how to create these sounds they are no longer interesting, because I understand more about synthesis now.

Who says he/she is a beginner?
My point still stand. These days these kind of forums are flooded with people who think there are easy ways out making the next killargh tune. But there are no easy ways out. The "golden key" is tons of practice in the studio.

So you're saying that once you figure out how to create a super killer power lead you just loose the interest in it because you already figured it out? You don't feel the need to use it, tweak it, etc..? Really top thinking man.

I sometimes try to reproduce some sounds (not leads just sounds) used in famous tunes, just for the fun and to see if i can of course, not ever to build a tune copying other projects. Having our own road to drive on is more fun then following shadows.
