Greetings Isratrance!

I was wondering on how to get Windows for my Macbook Pro 13inch (OSX version 10.8.5),without making it slow, so I can run cubase on it.

I have heard about bootcamp but some people say it makes your mac slow. Are there any other ways to get Windows on a Mac ?? or is that bootcamp thing a bs..?

Thank you !!

http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/cubase/trial.html

There is 30 days trial, enough time to test it out and see if you dig it, virtual machines are taking your main resources so it's gonna be slow no matter what, test Cubase Elements, if you like it, buy damn thing and use it properly.

I've always found Bootcamp to be mediocre due to the Apple provided drivers for many devices. Some things don't get updates until Apple decides to do it themselves. In any case, that's the best method to get say, Win7 on there and run whatever win-compatible apps you require. Yes, running an OS in a virtual app will be slower (and music stuff doesn't really like extra process layers mucking things up).

The question is, why not just run the native OSX version of Cubase? Everything i've been reading of late, it's much improved in the current builds.

you can also format one disk to fat 32, then go to settings on Mac OS, tell it to reboot on a windows disk, then it will convert this disk (the fat32 one) to NTFS or appropriate format (not sure if that's changed or not on Win8), and that's as native as it gets on the Mac. yes, using the bootcamp drivers still works with this method, for the basic stuff, like graphics card, network stuff, keyboards and other input devices you have. the other stuff, such as audio interfaces and controllers, as long as your developers have good steady windows drivers, it works flawlessly like that.

this method has nothing to do with virtual drives, it runs native just like you were using a Windows machine (pc), so there's no unnecessary layers of processing. this has nothing to do with parallels desktop or other solutions for running windows apps under the Mac OS environment.

hope this helps! cheers
