Hiya i have developed a tuning system based on certain mathematical relationships between tones and am very keen to put this into a .tun file for use in albino and other synths.

i downloaded and briefly looked at the program scala but it seems there is no immediately obvious way to do what. im not exactly sure but i think the .tun file works by having a midi note corrospond to a value in cents. basically i just want to be able to write in all the midi notes as frequencies in hz or find some way to convert i dont really need any software im happy to do it manually with a calculator.

hope i have been clear enough and someone can offer some advice, thanks! =)

http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/scala/

can dump to a wide variety of tuning formats for use on a variety of hard and soft synths (including z3ta+, albino etc..) Its free too.

i would be really interested to hear your tuning some time, i am trying to create some tunings that sound beautiful but bent but havent had alot of luck so far..hehe

have a nice day

basically i just want to be able to set each midi note to a particular frequency. is there a way to do this in scala?

I don't really understand, a note already has a frequency (A4=440Hz)... If you change the frequency you change the note, so why would you want to do this?

because i want to use my own tuning system and not the standard one. basically my tuning system has its on definition for an octave and non linear steps between tones. i have tested in playing basic waveforms in sequence of the different tones and it sounds good, but i need to put it inside a .tun file so i can play it in my synths.

i have a map of midi notes to frequencies which i want to use like C1 = x, C#1 = y, D = z etc which is not related to the standard tuning or the normal whole and half tones. unless i have this in a tun file its a real fuck around to play these tones as it requires a lot of automation etc. hope someone can help, thx

Fregle,

Around the globe, different cultures developed different music scales - since instruments were different and musical knowledge is different too - not everything was according to the western tuning.

so A=440hz is a western measure.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...
