as it is not possible to use automatisation on insert fx and as some synth parameter changes cannot be recorded as well,
I WANT TO RECORD INTERNAL VST s and VSTi s DIRECTLY TO A CUBASE AUDIO TRACK TO BE ABLE AT LEAST TO HAVE IT RECORDED, AS I CANNOT HAVE IT AUTOMATED!!!
i have the rme hdsp 9632 and i tried everything for months now. (and it was absolutely the same with other audio interfaces).
now i´m trying to have the following signal flow:
rme audio out - outboard mixer in - outboard mixer out - rme audio in
and i monitor it through the headphones out which is directly connected to the amp...
of course there is a huge feedback...
now my question:
how can i bypass the input of cubase so that it is not routed to the out (which is been recorded)???

why dont you export it????
where is the reason to record them in audio
to much trouble for nothing
you do that only if you have some outboard (fx,compressor)
iff export the sound would be an exact replika of the original
and why you can not automate insert fx ?
this happends only if they are dx plugs and i think they can be automated to!!!]
maybe im not anderstanding something???
give more info!!!

orange, of course you´re right whenn you say that audio export is the most logic thing to do, BUT, as i said, i cannot automate it (at the steinberg hotline they told me that they know this problem...) and consequently i cannot export/ render/ mixdown it!
for example twiddling the knobs of "evl step delay" (that is a delay with a filter/ resonance/ feedback) and having dope dubby delays filtered is wonderful and would be soo exciting to build up long continuously evolving delay structures (on snares for ex.).
try it for yourself again and you´ll see that cubase does NOT automate any inserts...
you can automate the SENDS, but for my example there doesn´t appear the aforementionned evl step delay...
BUT I NOW ALMOST DECIDED TO SWICH OVER TO EMAGIC LOGIC, ALTHOUGH I REALLY DON´T WANT TO, BECAUSE I´M SOO FAMILIAR WITH CUBASE(5 YEARS...) |

Well...
You can open a WaveLab on the side of Cubase and record it as a .wav file while you press play and twddle the knobs
and then re import it as an audio file
i used to do it before i learnt about automation

so way you dont upgrade your cubase iff you are fammiliar with it its not wise to go to logic it will be starting all over again
i dont sey logic is no good i just sey stay in the areas you already know
cubase sx dont have this issues i think so its the best option in my book
and you could use wavelab as jeto said its an option to better then recording yuor output you will not experience any looses in the sound quality this way

Do you have a soundcard with multiple outputs? If so you can just run the audio you want to record on a different out than the master channel to your mixer and then route only that channel to your recording inputs, which will play back independantly on your master channel, thus breaking the chain of the feedback loop.

Jeto, good idea. i did this also, but with those professional audio interfaces you cannot run more progz at the same time cause only on will be active. the asio drivers are totally dedicated to one programme.
orange, you´re right. i won´t go through the hell and switch to logic. but the problem is that cubase sx is also a very great difference to 5.1...
Jikkenteki, thanx for the good advice! the problem is that if i route it to the input again it gets audible automatically - mutiong the rest isn´t good either cause i want to hear the rest while twiddling knobs...
finally i´m totally confused again, as i was so many times in the last few years. this is very exhausting for a chaotic brain like mine...
i actually can record the insert fx on a mixer track?!#*
i don´t know why it is possible all of a sudden...
puh, this is all soo strange.
but thanx 4 your help buddys!
