I wonder what players and speakers/headphones you use, what is your usual file format and how long is your typical music session
My player is always a computer and therefore I convert every CD I buy into FLAC and very occasionaly i use MP3s (older music).
70% headphones, work
10% headphones, home
10% studio monitors, home
10% car
2 hours of instant listening usually...and all day sum is about 4-5 hours of listening
Thanks for your comments...

Almost constantly. My file format is either CD, high quality MP3, or FLAC. FLAC being the large majority. Pretty much the same as you listed. I too convert every new CD to FLAC, and my 320K MP3s are old music I haven't yet re-ripped to FLAC.
20% headphones (Grado)
30 % in car (crappy stock system)
30% PC/Studio monitors (M-Audio BX-5a)/Sub (KRK Rokit 10)
20% stereo (Dennon hardware with crappy garage sale speakers)
I listen probably 6-8 hours per day. A mix of background and active throughout.

I'm a mix of FLAC on my computer and CDs. When I mix i do so with cd-j's. Most new cds I rip to FLAC, and once I get a good external hard drive I will be backing up all my music to FLAC on there (as well as muy photos).
In periods when i didn't have a job I listened to music constantly when i was at home. Now I listen whenever I can. I think I manage an hour or two each week day evening and more on the weekends.
Don't use headphones, always found them too constricting for movement. I have a fairly decent home stereo, though hopelessly configured due to space limitations in my music room (if we ever renovate and extend our home then I will solve that problem with high priority). I love listening in my car, preferably on my own. And I love listening to music in the back yard when I get the chance.
I don't use a walkman (or Ipod as they are now called - prolly showing my age there ;-/ ) as I like to be engaged with my surroundings - as much as I can be whilst reading a book on the tram or train. |

I drive a lot for my work so I have a decent system with a sub in my van; update my ipod every few weeks with high rate mp3's.
At home I use my pc, I recently sold my old Naim system sadly but I'm enjoying my new Logitech Z2300's which do the job for the moment. Cd's, Flacs and mp3's, many hours of late night sessions |
