I'm in the process of recording an extremely cheesy house track.

Now, I know all the cheesy club-house vocals sound pretty much the same. What sound manipulation technics should I use on the vocals?

Mainly compression... depends on the type of house though.

lil vocoding ain't a bad idea. or some midigate with heavy reverb.......

but i guess that's getting more into the trance production style of vocals

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

And antares autotune. The effect in Cher's song Do you believe in Love is made with something similar to it(and you can make the exact same effect with autotune). You can probably make some other cooll effects with it. Also gater to make that chopping/stattering effect. A cool effect I read in sound on sound is to use two different gaters and use two different effects on each. Then make the one sound when the other doesn't. I haven't tried it but it sounds cool.
Also granular sunthesis to make that higher state of conciousness effect. I don't know how it's done exactly, but I asked someone and he told me he used granulab to make the same effect.

I think in house, the vocals should be close to clean. I`d use compressor, reverb and chorous.
autotune its cool too..           check out! www.soundclick.com/spasm

1.You must know the level of vocal in the track. It is very diificult to mix it , because the eq and compression must be just 100% exact. You must do it so well so you hear the vocal upwards the track but with it you must hear the other instruments. It comes mainly with experience working in vocals and a very good sound knowledge.

Good Luck.

i dont think that vocals are more hard to mix than other lead sound. if you build your track considering the mix, your life will be easyier at the mixing stage.           check out! www.soundclick.com/spasm

Mate... it's ALL got to be right! For whatever type of music you produce.

And if you record your vocal well, it needs very little processing indeed.
