Orgy, i thought you already had the Tascams.

But since you don't i would recommend the following :

Yamaha HS50

KRK RP5 or for 6" woofer

Alesis M1 active MK2

They are all better than the Tascams.

@klippel

The graph of the basotect panels confirms that they are descent for broadband absorption but they fail of course in the low frequencies. I wonder if they have any graph for their corner traps.

@adharaguy

In your case i'd put the bass traps on top of the step you have there. But what kind of bass traps you're talking about? Panels or corner traps?

That is a good decision until you will be able to get something really better.           A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

I have used all of them, and I can say that I am now a proud owner of the Yamaha HS50! Much better than the other mentioned in my opinion. Nice and open (detailed highs) and enough bass for most rooms. The Alesis colours the sound much more!

And people tend to buy too big monitors for their rooms!

Thank you Alex for the tips on acoustic treatment, you spread helpful knowledge around you!

I would also like to know more about the
cheap basstraps linked to earlier, how does these compare to other (more expensive) gear, and homebuilt? It looked very reasonable...

As long as there are no lab data for these corner traps we can only assume. And what i assume is that they will provide some amount of low freq absorption but comparing to other corner traps in the "standard" size of 100x60x60, i'd say that these cheaper alternatives wouldn't do much from 80hz and below.

Treating fully 2 corners from floor to ceiling with a pair on each corner(and still there would be a gap, unless the ceiling would be 220cm) would be 260 euros + shipping.

Building 2 "superchunks" would be less than 100 euros, would cover the whole height and it would be more effective/absorptive for sure.           A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

.so place your desk infront of the window..take care that your speakers have at least 50 cm space to the window(wall) and place yourself at 32% of the room..thats where the optimal position should be in that kind of room..

How about the sun and the greenhouse effect? isnt heat bad for computers and hardware?
Do windows reflect more sound than walls? i suppose they do, i just never thought about it.

hi, its me again...

i need help with the 60° triangle.

my problem is, that my 2 screen´s are to big (widescreen...).

is the 60° angle very important or can i place the monitors a little more outside?

im not sure how near they can stand next/behind to the screen, without disturbing the sounds.
how much space should there be?

here example http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc44/orgytime/angles.jpg

You should set yourself and speakers up in a perfect triangle, with the speakers and yourself being the 3 points. If you have to have your speakers further apart then you need to sit back further from them as well. Try and make yourself as far from them as they are from each other.           ~Airyck~
