Hi Arantes420.

Well my friend, nowadays with only a nice computer and a monitor speaker with a good quality itīs possible do it nice tracks. I preffer work with hardwares, but itīs not impossible work with only a PC or a Mac. I have monitors Alesis MK II powered and Yamaha NS 10 too. This two kinds of monitors itīs good and have a nice price in Brazil. A good soundboard itīs necesssary too.

After your friend take the computer and the monitors,he will needs stuff that is a complement to his song...per exemplo...keyboards, racks, mixers...

I use to say that with much money you can do it the best track, hahaha.

Bye dude.

Your friend could buy a pc and make all his music and sounds with software if he wants to save money. He needs to figure out which software he wants to use (Logic, Cubase, reason). A lot of hardware synths are available as software nowadays including the virus. On the other hand he could buy one or two hardware synths (nord, virus) if he has enough money. I too use the Alesis MkII monitors and they are a very cost effective solution for monitoring!!!

Strong PC (P4 with 256 mb ddr or more)
Pulsar 2
good active monitors (and not the lousy yamaha ns10...)

get a P4 with 256 Rdram ONLy!!!! No ddr if u work w/ soft synth or samples (RDram is about 3 times faster and heavy duty then ddr.)
for the peripherials- M-audio delta series (depands on how many in/out u need)
a big fast HD (40 GB+ , 7200 rpm min.)
a non N-vidia graphic card (ATI, Matrox)
an asus board (p4t series and disconnect the ob sound card) with INTEL Chipset (Beware of Via As they suck ass bigtime)
midi keyboard - the evolution USB series woth the 'C' series (Midi + knobs, really neat).
this series is very flexible as there are variuos sizes (for the budget's sake)
finally - Monitors, Try the Tannoy Reveal Active or the cheaper yet EXCELLENT! M-audio StudioPhile Amped Monitors. the rest is up to u (Seq, Soft/Hard Synth - Native Instruments Recommeded warmly)

Good Luck mate.

a good pc - amd 1500 or p4 with 256mb ram
fast hd(scsi is the best - 10000rpm)

monitors - try tannoy or m-audio 8 inch
also try yamaha's ns10(ALon what the problem with these monitors)

the best way to explain is to tell u that i have been in SAE studios in London last week and those monitors are there for a shitbox refrence...
i suggest to go on tannuy reveal active if budget is tight and if your pocket is deeper so go on some Genelec monitors.

For a start, there is no question here...computer!!!

Get a P4 2000MHz with 512DDR (333Mhz)
And a nice worm pulsar, add to this some nice
M-Audio Audiophile monitors (which are cheap)
and you will have all the base you need to get
going, hardware is expencive...
