Hey guys, I banged out this rough sketch over a period of time. I'm fairly new to producing this style of music, but overall sound design and experimentation ive been doing for a long time. I'm quite happy with the direction its going in, but I know it needs a bit of tweaking in certain areas (mixing and harmoics). Also perhaps the first and second half needs to be a little more consistent? By all means criticisms are welcome as long as they are productive and useful. Thanks!

Dude. This is awsome. I've been trying to learn some of the techniques you are using for a minute now. Major props. The only critisism I can offer is that the track seems to come in real engaging but later doesnt peak quite as much as would be nice. I love your instruments and mixing though. Check out some of my posts if you get a chance. My style is a little different, but i'd love to get your opinions. Peace.

Thanks for positive response. I agree that it does need somthing, maybe more drive injected into it somehow? I'll probably just work on something else and come back to it later, as thats when I tend to edit my tracks the best. I like your progressive tracks a lot. Add some more breakdowns and slice up some of those loops, and it'd sound great! I discovered that if you change your original lead synth ever so slightly on a different channel it adds more characteristic to your sound.

Hold your horses .. Where the bass ? From 00:26 to 02:06 Almost can hear there is somthing that call bass in it , Then at the break the vol' jump up (The same as the intro) And again .. The bass is somwhere there hiding in the background , And same till the end of the track .
Sure there interesting sounds in but first you should work on your mix so we can hear each sound , Better eq , Power and more effects on the down area . By now this track is drive to nowhere fix it up , Bring more atmos and mellos and all be fine .
Keep it up .. !

Thanks for the honest critique cardinals! That was the kind of the answer I was really looking for. I can't mix kick and bass worth a squat on headphones, and it always tends to sound somewhat decent in cans when I listen to it, but then when I hear it in speakers, you're right, it gets muddied up with all the other sounds. What would you suggest? Maybe putting all FX in one bus, Leads in one bus, drums ect. and mixing that way?
