Now I know none of us around here use drugs since we are all such upstanding citizens. But I thought you guys would find this rather interesting.
I have had endless debates with people who sanction for/condone alcohol; but yet they closed-mindedly vilify drugs.

(Just have a look at the chart on the left of the page if you are too lazy to read the article)

What do you guys feel about this?

I saw this the other day, the saddest thing about it is how long that study has been out for. I'm surprised that guy doesn't try to bring up a wrongful termination lawsuit just to drive home his point more.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I worked in a very busy pharmacy for two and a half years, before leaving due to ethics differences between myself and the insurance and drug companies, and to pursue a career where I didn't feel like a pawn.

We had a "joke" about how at the (then) Sav-On, people could buy cigarettes and alcohol at the front of the store, but would have to walk ALL THE WAY to the back of the location to get the antibiotics or blood pressure medication that would save their life.

As far as that chart, I don't think I would put cannabis above solvents. And amphetamines lower than ketamine is a bit strange. Ritalin being right next to acid is pretty amusing as well. I'm surprised that they were able to correlate all these items into one list and give them arbitrary "scariness" levels.

Here's a slightly better graph of the same data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rational_scale_to_assess_the_harm_of_drugs_%28mean_physical_harm_and_mean_dependence%29.svg

The whole issue with David Nutt is retarded, and it seems as if he's just going to be a political martyr. He went against the nanny state, and got sacked.

The laws in the U.S. and the U.K. need to be redrawn, for sure, based on the actual effect of each item on human beings - rather than to protect corporate interest or possible tax revenue.

Whether we will see that type of reform in our lifetime remains to be seen. Baby steps... baby steps...

I think there are many ways in which drugs are legal and I wish the authorities would uphold the drug legality laws more. For example, 1 oz or less of marijuana has been decriminalized in NY state since 1977 so the cops must never arrest for 1 oz or less. Things like that; possession of a small quantity of acid is afaik entirely legal in the US; peyote has been legalized (congratulations); salvia is available via mail order; etc etc etc. Drugs have consensus majority/preponderant minority support, so I think that along with the fixation on warning labels evinced in the cited article the positive effects of drugs, including yes cigarettes and alcohol, ought to receive more emphasis. peace

I've decided that the only way we can dispute this chart is by trying all the categories out for ourselves.
